Yes I do have a receipt, however, I also paid with my CC. I will give them a call and insist on a charge back.
Slow down - and less of the insisting. ;)

Have a read of MSE's Section 75 article first.

I recently bought an ikea mattress, they do a 25 year warranty but it is limited (reasonably so) in cover. Perhaps this didn't apply five years ago though? For what I paid, I'd be happy to get five good years out of it.

In any case after five years it's up to you to show it's defective if ikea (or their agent) say it isn't. Getting an independent report is really the only option.

Or maybe it's just time for a new mattress?

Simple fair wear and tear can soften the mattress that just pushes it over the edge for your back, doesn't make the mattress faulty. After 5 years there is always going to be some wear and tear that will slightly change the characteristics.

As others have pointed out. Five years use you would expect the mattress so soften and therefore not be as comfortable to you as it once was, it doesn't mean that it is faulty!

I've had an eco master inspection of a mattress from IKEA and they deemed the dipping a manufacturing fault and replaced the mattress without any fuss.

Eco master are independent and will rule in your favour if they deem it faulty. The fact they have said its not would suggest it's more your needs have changed!
