  • Oh, Aesop, it's so tough having to do a job when you really dislike it.

Just totted up my total for the whole of 2015's challenge. Absolutely gobsmacked that it came to £3798.27:j:j:j

It's all down to you, Aesop, for running the thread , all the time you spend helping us and your endless hints and tips on making a bit extra:A. Thank you.

A massive amount of thanks too to all the members of this brilliant thread for all the help, encouragement and fun during the year:A

    I agree, she did:T
  • Loving all the talk about hair colours:j. All your red, blue, gold and copper makes me sound a real stick-in-the-mud with my Dark Blonde which is really mid-brown on me:eek: It's pretty much my 'real' colour but I wanted to go a bit lighter really without any bleaching.

Have been thinking about biting the bullet and going naturally grey. Heaven knows what years of chemicals do to the system and my hair grows so quickly that I have to redo it every 5 weeks max:(. I Know I'm getting on a bit (well, a lot actually:o) but I don't look my age and would hate to see my Mum staring back out of the mirror at me:eek:. I know grey hair is trendy especially for young people but for my generation it seems like admitting defeat and becoming a little old lady:eek:. Plus, there's the nightmare of growing all the colour out.

Can't afford hairdressers and no colleges for cheap treatment within 30 miles of here so it's DIY but even that is money I can't really afford especially as I seem to be keeping Wilko's going with all the dye I need to buy:rotfl:. I use up Love2Shop vouchers from surveys when I can but I could find something better to spend them on;)

LOL - I've noticed grey hairs creeping in for the last few years and am mid 30's now. Funnily enough, it coincided with having children!! :rotfl:

I used to home dye hair to save money, but have spent the last year trying very hard to eliminate all the toxins in our lives (am bit of a tree hugger). I'm finally at the stage where I can wash hair super cheaply in bicarb and apple cider vinegar without feeling greasy for example and in line with that, gave up hair dye too  That of course means I'm trying to embrace the greys and recently lopped all my hair off into a bob while it finishes growing out. It was bit scary at first (hippy or not, even I have an ego!) but it's actually looking ok and no where near as bad as I expected, thank goodness!

Theres lots of eco friendly and cheap ways to dye hair though. Henna aside, theres walnut powder which is supposed to be fab for darkening - I've seen some great examples of it. Coffee and chamomile are also top methods. I'm planning on trying a few out in the spring :)
    £10 a day 2017 - APR £60.12 / MAR £82.24 / FEB £142.82 / JAN £241.24
  • Happy New Year's Eve everyone!

I few last bits to add for 2015...
£2.19 from a try me free offer
    £3.00 from Pinecone
£50 of nectar points spent on Christmas food etc
and finally, £95 of cash received as Christmas presents from lovely family which has pushed me very close to target this month.
A few other things are on their way but won't arrive before next year so I'm declaring at £305.15 and am over the moon with that :)

Wishing all of you a very happy and prosperous new year!
    xxx

    Nicki_Sue, re: Pinecone

This isn't the thread I was telling you about, I just found this one when searching for the other one (still not found it though, but I will;)).

This is the reason I never leave vouchers/cash in any accounts like those who save all year. If they close you lose everything

I don't either. Better to cash out in bits and pieces than save it and lose it.
I'm just curious about the drop given that I'm a longstanding member. I'll report back if/when I hear from Karen as I questioned her original one-sentence answer.
