Well done to all the money-makers who are still managing to add to their totals:beer: even though the 'sleeps' to the big day are disappearing so quickly and money-out rather than money-in is often necessary:eek:.

    Sugarplum, welcome back:T

lynnejk, you sound so sensible and organised with your money:T. I just wish I had some to save:o

    wifey, you're doing so well:T

Money Fritter, Pinecone are a brilliant company but they only recruit new panellists every now and then. There'll be specific banners on some websites when they are, otherwise it's no use just trying to register. It sounds from what you say that you aren't registered yet. I'm sure Aesop or someone else on here will post as soon as they spot the Pinecone recruitment banner:)

    Have a good day, all:beer:

Received £12.20 from Amazon overnight:j. Not much else happening:o

I'm a bit annoyed though as I've just received notification that I've sold a journal on there. It's one of those thick, gold-edged, blank page ones with really nice paper and a beautifully illustrated hardback cover. It was passed on to me by someone who had no use for it and is still pristine. I didn't have any immediate use for it at the time as I've a stash of notebooks of all sorts bought over the years with no real purpose in mind, being a stationery junkie:o:eek:. Made a resolution ages ago NOT to buy any more but to use some of those.

Had forgotten I'd listed the lovely one I've just sold:o, I was looking at it only last week and had made up my mind to use it myself from January. Don't want to cancel the sale as the buyer may want it as a gift, it's so nice, but I'm annoyed with myself:mad:. Off to check my Amazon inventory now in case there's anything else I've forgotten is on there and want to keep for myself:o

I have put up the permanent site that offer Pinecone recruitment, which is what Money Fritter used. But Pinecone from time to time change their parameters of who they accept. I know lately they were looking for people under a certain age, as a few on facebook applied and were rejected.

I don't really check what they advertise on FPL, but Lynne has seen what they are looking for advertised on there. It's worth keep trying though, as sooner or later, they will take you on.

I didn't realise that:o. I know several people who couldn't register in the past because they couldn't find a way to. Will direct them to your link:A

A must for all newbies if you are not already doing any of these:

    1. Apply to PineconeResearch here. They pay a guaranteed £3 per survey. You are never screened out, they don't send out lots, but when you get one, you know you will be paid within a few days.

  • Hi everyone :D
I am back after a few days of being off my feet with the lurgy. I am only just starting to feel a bit better now and haven't gone over my finances yet but I will get on over the weekend and catch up properly.

It's taken seven years to get to this position CBC.

September 2007 we came back from Tenegrief, after we lost our business and were dropped in the 'deep and sticky' by some so-called 'friends' when all the banking world went t*ts up and everything crashed.

Fortunately we had some real friends, who helped us soo much, thankfully, as by the time we reached their house near Manchester we were down to £30  We stayed with them a little while, and we updated and decorated their house and sorted the garden in return for their hospitality.

Unfortunately, we had to come to Scotland because DH's father was poorly and needed taking care of - DH's sisters were 'too busy' to do it themselves. Anyway, long story short, he passed away in February 2008 and we have scrimped and saved ever since, to get us to where we are now. For the first five years I think the only new things we bought were shoes and a TV - all the rest was charity and second-hand shops :D

DH paid for and passed his HGV 1 licence, and all the other certificates they need now, and now has a reasonably well-paid job. I went back to college and got some new, updated qualifications to be able to get some work as well.

I think that some would call me a 'miser', as I am always watching the pennies and try to only buy things when there is a bargain. We do have the odd treat, but not very often. Each year, I promise myself something and then save up for it.

One thing that has really helped with my savings has been when I had a problem with my credit card, not my fault but the bank. As an apology they gave me 18 months 0% credit - which I have maxed out and put the money into high interest/savings accounts. That way I can still pay it when it becomes due but I'm earning interest every month :money:

I don't think it's easy to save money until you can get into the mind-set of not 'wanting' things all the time and just buying things that you need. I find it helps staying out of the shops as much as possible, then I'm not seeing things I might 'want' :D

Sorry for the long post, but hope it helps others who may just be starting out of the financial mire.
