Morning all,
I've been lying here awake since 5am which is as usual, the time the men woke me as they charged down the stairs and out for work. Even the dogs got in on th act too. Men, bags, dogs all squeezing through the narrowness of the stairs. Youngest who insists on taking his own duvet as a sleeping bag and cheap duvet isn't good enough nearly broke his neck when he collided with a dog. Oh it was all fun and games at 5am in this house.
I can breathe now until Friday.
Onwards and forwards

I sympathise as I don't feel as if I slept at all. Need to keep an ear out for the door as a parcel is being collected for dd and another order is being delivered.
A friend is coming round today to pick up our mobile heater as she is having building work done and heating will be off.

Have a great time in Venice.

It must seem never ending but hopefully you are nearly over the final hurdle. Pity you can't knit BIL some sense or decency.
JackieO
Sounds like you had a great weekend and managed to feed up Ben as well.
LameWolf
Good Luck with your furry lodgers and everything else.
DD is supposed to e mail when somebody is due today but have not heard anything yet. Going downstairs for a quick breakfast, tidy kitchen and sort recycling out. Wannabet I stay in all day and various things and people arrive about tea time?

Good Morning everyone, blustery day here today but dry so far and we have a glimmer of sunlight, cold though out there! He Who Knows is walking Cookie and then we're going to look at a new to us dining room table and chairs set, we're still running with a very ancient Ercol set we got second hand (very) when we first met and everything else we own is dark wood so time for an update as we now have Zebra to accommodate at table on his booster seat on a chair. There is a very good shop that only stocks the better brands and I hope we'll find something Ercol to replace this one, I'd ideally like one of their circular 'kitchen' tables that has two drop leaves so we can run with one of them down and a smaller table surface when there are just the two of us, will save some room in the dining area. I'm fairly up to date with the house work and laundry so some of this afternoon will be spent wrapping Christmas presents, I've done stocking presents already and need to take stock of what I still need to get, Christmas creeps ever nearer doesn't it?
Have yourselves a lovely day everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Hello again! Is this site playing up or am I playing stupid?! Lappie out to do end of month finances and thought I'd have a quick visit on here first. I thought the box popped up to say I had a private message so I clicked ok and there was nothing there! I do hope I didn't inadvertently press delete or ignore by mistake. If I have, then profuse apologies I didn't mean to!
All is peaceful now! DGDs gone to school, Mr TA reading his paper and radio on quietly in the background. I have had a quick tidy round and the WM is on for our bedding. Sadly it won't be getting hung out as it's raining! Oh I hate drying bedding inside!
Good luck with the furniture shopping Mrs LW. We had to upsize (is that a word?!) our dining table after the third grandchild came along to one with six chairs. It wasn't such a hardship as our old one had definitely seen better days and badly needed replacing!
Once again, have a good day all x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Just had a knock at the door and dd's parcel has been collected by a courier so that is one thing done.
Kitchen is looking a bit better and have found a surprise stocking present for son in law which I hope he will like. Self stirring star wars mug! Will browse round the site to see what else could be good for dds.
We still have at least three lots of deliveries so don't want to leave the house or be out of earshot. Still have not had breakfast so need to get a move on.

I hate drying bedding inside too but looks as if I have no choice today. Our dining table was upgraded a few years ago and can sit eight but if I downsize heavens knows where it will go as I still want to have celebration family meals etc.

Morning (((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
Late up again this morning, feel so very tired, managed to do a quickie Monday clean and change the towels heaven knows when they will get washed and dried, it hissing down with rain again.
I finished the duvet cover off in the sitting room overnight, I had to re wash it after trambling it in the muddy grass.
No plans, have ironing to do and also need to press the fabric I sorted out, there are two pairs of curtains which can be used to line bags and also material for bags. I need to take the tap off the top of the curtains and undo the seams. Might sit and do that whilst OH has his siesta, on the other hand might do the ironing then.
Its St Andrews Day, so haggis neeps and tatties for supper tonight, will be cooking the turnip in the micro is cooks better in there, I can then mash it with the tatties, butter and some pepper and salt.
Drs tomorrow morning, Wednesday we are going to Ikea, taking DD2, I am going to look at a cheap bedside table.
Time to sort out some lunch........0 -
Happy St Andrews day to all our friends in Scotland, such a lovely place I want to retire up there.
Mind you maybe we should call it St Andy's day after the Davis cup win yesterday first time in 79 years :j:j:j:j
Blowing a hoolie out there today, the fences seem to be holding but the garden has old pots blowing all over the place and no way am I going out there to pick them up:p
Might get the tree down tomorrow, it might get me in the Christmas spirit, just recovering from a rotten cold and left with a hacking cough, so not really feeling up to par, but once the house starts looking festive it usually perks me up .
Got nearly everything now so I can just take my time wrapping the pressies.
It is a lovely feelingI do like to go down on Christmas Eve to see if there are any bargains to be had, but I avoid Boxing day sales, to us Boxing day is our visiting day. We like Christmas day, just us in our jammies all day if we want, just a nice relaxing family day
It is black outside at the moment and has been since 2.30pm
Must go and see DH off to work

Jasper was collected to go back to his own humans this morning - bless him, he went outside fine, but when he realised he was going to be leaving me, he turned round and marched straight back into the bungalow.:D Poor old franchisee was in a hurry, as he'd several appointments to keep this morning, so he had to scoop Jas up bodily and plonk him in the car!:rotfl:One assumes he's enjoyed his stay.....
Next visitor is due Wednesday morning - Dottie, who I've not met before; but honestly, how much bother can one 18-month-old Cairn Terrier be?:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Evening all,
Its been another miserable day today weather wise, intended to do some shopping this morning, but quickly went off the idea when I looked outside.......will wait until Thursday.
Dinner today was steak with onions, carrots and mashed potatoes, followed by tea and a slice of panetonne......we love it and always buy a few when they appear in Lidl.
Ja ckieO, glad that you all enjoyed DSILs birthday, and of course, Ben and Katies visit.
Congratulations to those of you who have the energy to look after your grandchildren, except for the twins, all of mine just need someone around to keep an eye......looking after the twins tomorrow while their parents go Christmas shopping, it will only be for acouple of house I hope, as they only like to be fed by Mammy.
Paid my car insurance online last night.......€487!
Ruby.....enjoy Venice!
Csarina...take it easy.
Happy Saint Andrews Day!
