O/S Daily Monday 30th November 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him in a bit.
Still dark, but the gale force winds seem to have died down, and it’s not raining at the moment, feels quite mild too.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, brussels, carrots, green beans, peas, Yorkshires and gravy, choc gateau for dessert. Meat was delicious, and I have LO’s in the fridge to use for another meal, I think that will be tomorrow night. I will re-jig the menu as we didn’t eat some of the food that I bought for the weekend.
Yesterday we had an hour at mum and dads as my bro visited as mum is not so good, he had just arrived before us, so was good to catch up, my elder sis and bil then arrived, so quite a bit of activity at their house for a while, my bro had taken everything to cook them lunch, he was then going to return home – he lives approx. 2 hours away, so gets home as regularly as life allows, but is very good at keeping in contact. We are going to visit him and my sil next weekend.
We watched the tennis, what an excellent game and of course we got the result we hoped for, makes you feel proud to be British especially with all the awful things that are happening at the moment. We then watched the GP that we had recorded, although the Championship result had already been decided. Chilled for the remainder of the day.
Back to work for me today, I should imagine it’ll be a busy one as it’s the start of the month, nice!
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
We're off to work in a sec, fish fed & hubby has a cuppa.
Belated Happy B'day to 2 poster's DD's.
LW glad to hear about your lodgers.
I need to phone the Crem today to find out if, when FIL has booked to scatter the ashes.
I've finished knitting all five scarves for work, I will go back to crocheting my Attic24 stripey CAL blanket now, just so I have something to keep me sane.
Have a good day everyone

Morning all, a very quick hello before heading off to work. Cold and damp here, hard to tell what it will feel like later as still dark!
Have a good day everyoneI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning :hello:
Thinking of you Hester xx
Ooooh redruby that's fab, hope you have a great time
I gave in and bought a stairgate, at least muddy paw prints are confined to the kitchen nowPlus I just cannot make Scampi sit and wait while I answer the front door, so it's great for keeping him safe while being able to see me – he goes into a bit of a frenzy if I shut him in the other room and he hears a stranger's voice. I'm convinced he thinks I'm about to be attacked or something, lol.
It was very wet and windy yesterday. I decided I needed a new winter blanket so I pulled some yarn out of the drawer and made a start. I began with purples but I might throw other colours in, depending on what mood I'm in at the time. I decided to do it patchwork style so I'm making it up as I go. So far, I have a small rectangle of wavy stripes.
The weather's not looking great so we'll go for our walk then stay indoors for the rest of the day. I have plenty to keep me busy but I expect I'll be slowed down by my little shadow
It's December tomorrow, my list of carols is ready – please take a few minutes today to warm up your voices in preparation

Morning All
Not raining - at the moment but I'm sure it's not far away, especially after yesterday. No wind so hopefully it will feel a little milder.
I too watched the tennis, it was really exciting, well done GB.
Not much going on today apart from a netball match after school, hopefully our team can do a little better than last week! The children enjoy it so a win would be a bonus.
Hope you all have a good week, HH do you think FIL is very confused or being manipulated? AOD - let's hope your journey is a little cleaner today! Take care. XX0 -
Morning all. A quieter night weatherwise for us after yesterday's battering. There were wheelie bins and rubbish blowing around everywhere. But there's more rain to come it seems.
After our marathon DGD sitting session, they are still peacefully asleep in their beds. I will need to get them up soon, dressed, fed and watered and ready for school. It was so much easier just looking after two of them! Elder DGD texted to announce their safe arrival in London (I was so relieved in view of the horrendous weather) Last night's plan was to visit the winter wonderland in Hyde Park and then today they are booked for the Harry Potter tour. Then straight back home for school tomorrow. We have a reprieve then for a couple of days as they are not back till Wednesday and Thursday nights for tea, sleepover and school run.
Mucho in the way of left overs in the fridge for us to eat up today so don't plan on doing any cooking, just warming up where necessary. Plan an easy day (think we've earned it!) and really should make a start on writing cards and wrapping/bagging presents. No-one else is going to do it!!
Mrs LW what a lovely surprise for you yesterday, you sounded to have a lovely day with DGS. RR how wonderful, enjoy Venice! LW enjoy all your furry lodgers! Have a good day all (((((HUGS)))))) if wanted/needed. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Good morning all,
Not sure what the weather is doing yet because it is still dark.
Lyn what a lovely surprise to see that Zebra boy, and also him not wanting to leave you either, you have good start to your week.
Tru, I am all set for your carols, I am very willing but I will say I am tone deaf:)
We have to pop to the SM for a few things today. I am running everything down in the freezer because I want to defrost and clean it. We have been having a few freezer surprises for our evening meals, but almost there now.
Have a good day all

Good morning everyone :hello:
We have still got high winds and rain here so it's not very nice. I will be putting the heating on in a bit to warm the house up. I had 2 very upset girls here this morning. DD's 14 and 15 were both crying about going to school as they are full of cold and feel absolutely rotten but unfortunately they have exams all week so I am being firm with them. I can see them both being sent home once their exams are over but that is just how it has to be.
I had a very busy weekend with the grand kids staying over. It was lovely to see them and it was lovely to see them go home if you catch my drift :rotfl:. The girls also decorated the living room and it looks so lovely and cosy and festive in there now.
It is our 16th wedding anniversary tomorrow and I really want a roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings so I have put an order in with Asda to deliver tomorrow afternoon. My hubby always cooks a roast on Sundays apart from December so I think it will be a nice change for me to do it. Plus it's a good practice for Christmas dinner which is also my responsibility.
I have washing on the go and a second load lined up ready, the tumble dryer will be on as well. I also have a friend coming round so I will quickly tidy the living room. I think I have a few deliveries today as well so will be keeping an ear out for the door.
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good morning everyone.
All is calm outside after Clodagh yesterday. It was so awful, even into the night and early morning. Mind you I slept so deeply and so long for a change.
The winds were tremendous yesterday. The friends I visited live right on the edge of the water and a bit raised up, when I left their place I stood for a while watching the waves crashing on the rocks whilst holding onto the walls for dear life. It's beautiful here even in dreadful weather.
I retrieved a frozen quiche and some soup from the freezer yesterday but need to go to the shops today at some point. And do some vacuuming. The cough has subsided a great deal though I am still sneezing a lot. Voice is on the croaky side still, but again, much better.
I am in awe of those who spend their days being productive, blankets, scarves, toys, looking after children or dogs etc. Today I will be mostly reading - again!
Happy St Andrew's Day everyone.0 -
Good morning everyone, well morning at least, as its wet 'n'windy here like the 'nursemaids baby' as my old Mum would say
:):)
I had a great weekend with my grandsons and to see my Son-in-laws face when the eldest boy Ben appeared at the door so unexpectedly was great.
The afternoon was spent catching up on all Ben and Katie's lives at Uni.They both seem to be working hard and both have part time jobs to supplement their grants.I can't wait until Ben comes home for Christmas as this term is the longest,t and it seems ages since we've had him at home.
I want to feed him up as he is rail-thin bless him. They both polished of a very large meal of roast lamb and all the trimmings and DD sorted out a bag of essential groceries to help them over the next few weeks.
Katie works in the Uni kitchen from 6.30 in the morning for three hours then goes to lectures or the library and is working very hard as her finals are in May,She sometimes doesn't get back home until gone 7 at night. They don't get to go out a great deal at the moment as work and studies take up most of their time so yesterday way a stolen day for them.
She is a lovely girl, and although tired from the drive and work she sat and helped Ben's younger brother Jack to sort out his options, as he is due to start 6th form next September.
We had a great family day altogether, and a superb meal cooked by my son-in-law last night.(I have a plate of left-over bits for dinner tonight as well ) DD bought me some lovely carnations which she didn't have to for looking after the younger boys while her and Simon had their annual weekend out.
Today after my breakfast I have my local library healthy -living walk followed by a cuppa in the library.its a bit cold and wet but I shall wrap up warm with hat gloves and scarf on so it won't deter me.
The boys want pancakes for their snack this afternoon so an easy day for me
Hope everyone has a great day whatever they are doing and they keep well wrapped up against the winter weather
Cheers chums
