Anyone had letters when paying someone's old account after they switch?

Indeed.
Perhaps not crystal clear if you're "not entirely sure".
I guess we come back to the question: has anyone received notification of a switcher's new account details?
No because it don't happen I have sent money to my old bank details many times and I have never had any such notification.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
I haven't personally received any notifications, however my salary was being paid into a 'closed' account (payments were forwarded by the Current Account Switching Service), I got an e-mail from payroll saying "Following the submission of your salary payment for October, we have been notified by BACS (Bank Automated Clearing Services) that an element of your bank account has changed and needs to be corrected accordingly."
So, I assume that the majority of such notifications go on behind the scenes...0 -
Recently sent a payment to a account that had been switched,
Not one of mine, and the payment was returned to my account,

Was the payment sent to an account that was switched using the new(ish) switching service?
There is/was a switching service which would swap over Direct Debits and Standing Orders only. The old account would be kept open and payments wouldn't be forwarded. It could be closed or kept open.0 -
Money was sent then returned by my bank but has been resent again
to the new switched account. I hope0 -
How do you expect the payees bank to know your address and send you a letter? How do you know that when you send the money to the old bank details that it is being transferred to the new account? The person who should be advising you of the new bank details is the payee themselves not the payees bank!0

I have received a letter on a corporate account, but not on a personal account (although the bill payment just changed to the new details on my personal account).
The sending bank receives a message from the receiving bank (was an AWACS report in BACS speak, not sure what the FP equivalent is) and the sending bank writes to their customer or updates the bill payment details (or should do).43580 -
When I've sent a one off payment from my First Direct account to my old account that had been switched, the following happened:
I didn't receive any notification from First Direct.
The funds appeared in the new account, with no problems.
The details in my First Direct payments list were automatically updated to the new account details, so any future payments will go straight to the new account.0 -

It's part of the Crystal clear Current Account Switch Guarantee:For 36 months, we will arrange for payments accidently made to your old account to be automatically redirected to your new account. We will also contact the sender and give them your new account details.
I suspect it should read that they will contact the sender's bank and give them them the new account details.0 -
Hi,
I've had a payment made to my old account which should hopefully be redirected to my new account (work's expenses system had old details despite updating where my salary is paid to).
Does anyone know how quickly the payments are redirected? I need to decide whether to wait or move some other money to meet outgoings.0
