Personally i'd go for precious metal items. Coins and the like are valuable because of their metal but more because of their rarity if you pick the right ones. Some people just go for sovereigns, I prefer to go for certain era's with historical interest which gives me pleasure in finding out about the mint, the areas history and what this currency would have meant to people back then - it also puts you amongst other collectors so buyers know their worth and you have more selling options.
I'm mainly doing it as a way of giving something physical to my children as inheritance. They can choose to keep or sell them but they will be worth something either way.MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
Sounds like an expensive hobby to me.
As with all family collectives, do make sure they children are fully aware of recent worth or they may be fleeced upon selling. And of course fully aware of any tax issues.0
