Gold and silver advice

Just wondered what everyone thought about investing in gold and silver, prices are pretty good and low at the moment so i thought this might be a good time to get some gold and silver bullion. I am talking about physical not paper.

What other investments do you have? Any reason why you want to get gold or silver now other than it looks cheap? It pays no income and can drop in value. The FTSE 100 has also dropped a lot, any reason you'd not buy into that?

@baldhippy......Digger Mansions is a big fan of gold, but wouldn't give you tuppence for silver.

That said, it seems from how you word your post that you need to do a lot of research.

But I have to say that when I see a newbie mention paper gold, my suspicions are raised that you may not be what you portray.....Just saying.

  • Sorry Digger i am confused by you saying i might not be what i portray, i was only asking what peoples thoughts were on buying silver and gold bullion. I am new to the forum and might not be staying around long if this is how you welcome new members.

@baldhippyYou have already made a decision not to buy paper gold, what do you consider paper gold to be......Just asking..._
  • Wow, what a strange and unfreindly forum.

Maybe if you answer the questions in the first reply I posted it might help others to provide info.

  • Sorry James, i did intend to do just that but then started being accused of not being sincere which confused the hell out of me. As i did not think i had even mentioned anything about myself.

The forum gets quite a few gold rampers joining up so your post may have given that impression as you're new.

Fill in the gaps about what you're after and you may get better replies.

  • Thank you James, i don't even know what a gold ramper is. But to answer your question i am merely someone who would like a way to store some cash with the chance of it going up in value in the future. I am not a serious investor but find it hard to store cash without dipping into it so was thinking this might be an option for me. I am quite aware that there are no guarantees in anything but had heard it mentioned that gold tends to hold it's purchasing power over the years. Hope that helps. As i said i was merely asking for peoples opinions that's all. I certainly had not come here to fall out with anyone.
