Just looking at your original posting again ... and I can (will) tell you how you can probably save another £150/month minimum.... only you might not like what I am about to say.
Move into a studio flatlet. Yes, the ones without an actual bedroom.
Now, if you own a lot of furniture, that's probably not practical (or are you just dragging stuff around with you because you own it ... and would be pleased of a fresh start)
Last month I was looking for a place of my own. Money is pretty much no object. But even so, I am as per the duck's rear end....
I looked at studio flatlets.
I looked at one bed flats.
And the decision I made was that you can only be in one room at a time. So you don't NEED an actual bedroom.
Your rent is £450. A studio where you live is probably £350. Saving you £100.
Then council tax. You will probably find CT on a studio is Band A (mine is) and with the single person discount that comes down to about £45. Saving you another £50.
Now the "and more" bit: if you are heating a smaller space, you have smaller heating bills. And less cleaning materials. And less insurance (probably). In addition to this, you've less space to buy stuff for.
I figure, all in all, living in a studio flatlet, rather than a 1-bed flat is saving me £170/month.
I don't need to save money per se. It's just a nice warm fuzzy feeling.
Anyway - have a look about, go view some studios. You might actually find a lovely one once you've seen about half a dozen!0 -

I know that you are right and that I should really look into getting a plca with lower overheads so that I have more money left every month to pay towards my debts but I really do not want to move to another place because I have only just after nine months started to feel like I actually have a home. My rent is already at a discounted rate because my sister managed to negotiate it down for the full duration of my tenancy because of the disgusting state that it was in when I signed the lease. She spent a lot of time and put a lot of effort into helping me to get it clean and repaired and making it look nice and like a home and I am finally starting to feel settled. I am not ignoring your advice because I know that you are right but it is something that I would now find very difficult to do.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0 -
