For £330k (or £380k new build), where to look for 1 hr commute to Fleet Street?

Looks too expensive unfortunately. I can scarcely find any 2 beds within my price range?
Think Park Royal is too. Royal Waterside is like min 490 for a 2 bed
God London is annoying!
Sorry, when you said it was just you not for a family I assumed you were looking for a 1 bed! I agree you'd struggle for a 2 bed around there for the price you're after.
If you want an investment, check out the crossrail routes and see if you can afford around those areas - at least you'll have a place and your commute will only get quicker once crossrail opens!Mortgage - £[STRIKE]68,000 may 2014[/STRIKE] 45,680.0 -

It's between Trafalgar Square and Chance. There's free parking on the corner, which might make the commute easier."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

Would you consider moving outside London itself? Your money goes a hell of a lot further, even in the still-fairly-expensive commuter belt around London. You can still keep your total commute to an hour...0

There are plenty of places in Surrey which are within an hour's commute of London where you will get plenty for £330k. You might find that the commute via train from e.g. Guildford, Woking or Farnborough will actually be quicker than a commute via tube from closer locations. There are also places in Berkshire, e.g. Reading, where you will get quite a lot for £330k.0

1hr to Fleet St ? If you were to stretch that a little (1h 15m or so to City Thameslink) and get one of the new builds near the station, you could get a 4/5 bedroom house for that money in my neck of the woods ... my commute involves a three mile journey to the station (which generally allows 10 mins leeway on the platform - would cut it a lot finer if within walking distance) and then getting south of the river, and I manage a door to door time of 1h 30m.
Mind you, you would have to consider living best part of 50 miles from Central London - with the associated season ticket costs.0 -

In which case you could have just said 'It's here'. Your actual comment and the link to the history of Fleet Street were at best superfluous and at worst condescending. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -
I know the name. I just don't know London at all. I wouldn't even know where/how to find the Queen's house ....or Big Ben.The great newspaper proprietors would be turning in their graves at the way the home of UK newspapers for hundreds of years has faded from the public memory.
