For £330k (or £380k new build), where to look for 1 hr commute to Fleet Street?

Hi,
I'm a first time buyer wondering what parts of London to look at to buy a flat, from which I can commute to the City (Fleet Street). £330k is really my maximum, but if it's a new build help to buy would probably help me stretch to £380k. I've focused my search so far on North West London but I honestly can't find much in my price range. There are a few new builds which i've expressed interest in, but they are right on the very edge of my acceptable commute time. Outside of my North London bubble though I actually have no idea where to begin looking for suitable properties, so any pointers as to decent areas would be much appreciated. This wouldn't really be for a family if it matters - i'm 24 year old male.
Thanks!
PS. If this isn't the right board/forum/website any other suggestions of where to post would be appreciated.

Woking, maybe?
Half an hour to Waterloo, and a gentle stroll over the river.0 -
I'd suggest out West - Acton/Ealing etc. at the moment the Central Line will get you into Chancery Lane in about 30 mins, and when CrossRail is up and running it'll be even faster, plus when the Central line goes 24hr you'll be able to get home from a night out easily.Mortgage - £[STRIKE]68,000 may 2014[/STRIKE] 45,680.0

There are a number of new developments very close to Park Royal on the Central Line within that budget - although it depends how many bedrooms you're after. Take a look at Royal Waterside.0

Amazed how short that commute is! But I would like to live closer to London.I'd suggest out West - Acton/Ealing etc. at the moment the Central Line will get you into Chancery Lane in about 30 mins, and when CrossRail is up and running it'll be even faster, plus when the Central line goes 24hr you'll be able to get home from a night out easily.
Looks too expensive unfortunately. I can scarcely find any 2 beds within my price range?
Think Park Royal is too. Royal Waterside is like min 490 for a 2 bed
God London is annoying! 0 -

I've no idea where Fleet Street is .... it's not listed on the drop down list here ... but you might find this website fun or helpful or handy ... or something.

Tooting, then.
People whinge about the Northern Line, but it is quick.

Norwood Junction. Fast train to London Bridge, 15 min only. £325k will get you a nice 2 bed.0
