Nationwide credit card refund advice

Looking for some advice,
Ordered a tablet from an internet supplier and paid by credit card for wifes birthday with delivery time of 3-5days.
This never happened as they didn't even have stock although stating at time of order they did so cancelled around 10 days later and put a claim in against my nationwide credit card.
Received an email back from supplier stating my cancellation had been received and a refund would be made within 5 days back to my credit card.
I am now around 6 weeks down the line and nothing has been refunded, an email back to the company asking where my refund is has received a reply stating they are no longer in business and to contact my credit card.
Contacted my credit card last week to get an update as around 6 weeks since originally sending back all paperwork and copies of emails where company states a refund would be processes, to be told they were still waiting to deal with it and would be looking at it soon.
What is the normal proceedure and time limit to turn these things around and would the credit card company now be liable for this amount now the company have ceased trading.
Any info would be appreciated.

If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.

Yes the credit card company are liable (particularly so if the cost was over £100, where you can make a S75 claim, but you can still do a Chargeback if it's less than £100), I'd be pushing them for a quick refund.0

Thank you for the quick reply.
The cost was £244, so over the £100.
When i spoke to nationwide credit card disputes team last week, they hadn't even looked at the claim yet and pointed out i wasn;t the only claim they had to deal with and would be looking at it soon when i progressed to the front of the queue and would contact me with their outcome in the near future.
This was before i have found out today the company have ceased trading.
Hopefully if the responsibility now rests with nationwide credit card now then the refund should be forth coming and shouldn't be a problemIf it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.0 -
Your original chargeback attempt was somewhat premature as it appears to have been made at the time of cancelling the order without giving the retailer a reasonable opportunity to process the refund. That sort of behaviour is not good and can cause problems for genuine retailers. Always give the retailer a reasonable opportunity to make the refund first before you start to instigate a chargeback. The fact that the retailer has subsequently ceased trading is not relevant as you had no way of knowing at the time that the retailer would cease trading.0
