But the third party extension is not valid for seized cars (Every Insurance Company has this specifically excluded) and forces do not allow it .... We are going round in circles now !

Aren't we just as you said force policy cannot override the law.

Should I maybe go to a solicitor to look into this for me? I'm panicking a bit, it says on the police slip I have seven days to collect it.

You started the thread on 27th when was it seized as the earliest you'll get it back is tomorrow. Three days and £60 in storage fees and you've achieved nothing. Is the bother in law on your insurance yet?

What does yours say about third party cover on other vehicles? Have you listed every vehicles you may want to drive?
Are you being deliberately obtuse here ?

    My CoI states
Mr molerat may also drive with the owners permission a motor car that is not owned by or registered to, or hired, rented or leased to, them, their business partner or their employer, or is being kept or used in connection with their or their employer's business.
so I can drive pretty much any car, no reg needed.

But, in the context of this particular thread / conversation, it also states under exclusions
Use to secure the release of a motor car, other than the vehicle identified above by its registration mark, which has been seized by, or on behalf of, any government or public authority.
so the pound / force would not allow it as, unless the vehicle was as specifically listed on the CoI by registration number, it is not covered by the CoI.
