they do not have too, as with the paperless terms the onus is on the person who opted for paperless to log in regularly and monitor their accounts. The inbox on the front screen shows that there is a letter there and had you logged in sooner you would've seen it sooner.
ps how do you know they defiantly did not email you any way, as often banks emails can be treated as spam by mail boxes - have you checked your spam box and your email address on their records to make sure the email is correct and has not been filtered into spam.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -

Frankly, so what? It doesn't in any way absolve you of your responsibilities. You let your account go into an unauthorised overdraft and you've been charged according to the T&Cs you agreed to.0 -
Why were you not checking your account ?
You might have spotted it before you started getting the charges.0 -
At the end of the day the cause of this situation is that you did not monitor your account and spending affectively or the account would not have gone overdrawn without you realising. Mistakes happen
Call tsb be nice (not uppity) take responsibility and explain the situation (blame game will get you no where) and ask them if there is any way they can waive the charges in this instance as a one off (which they will often do for first instances) and put the account back into credit today and use the tools provided by the bank more affectively to ensue it doesn't happen next time.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
they do not have too it's in their terms and conditions so they do, as with the paperless terms the onus is on the person who opted for paperless to log in regularly and monitor their accounts. I have now contacted them and they have checked and the email wasn't sent so they have wavered the fees and agreed to text as well as email when I have any inbox letters0 -

and that is good, as its not something they MUST do as the onus was on you regardless to check your own account, I would suggest however you follow other suggestions made to prevent it happening again (as in future emails may not be received for other reasons) such as logging online more regularly, keeping a track on what you spend that has not debited, text alerts, low balance alerts etc.
PS the email situation is only something that they have recently added as looking at the printed copy i have when they initially implemented contactless correspondence is that you need to check yourself!MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -

I receive an email from TSB when I have a message waiting for me.
I received one today.0 -
its one of the biggest cons of the modern era, and its baffling at how they can get away with it.
the bank has deemed you not credit worthy enough to have a cheaper planned overdraft, but yet will allow you to go in to an unauthorised overdraft and charge you dearly for it.
Personally i'd look in to changing banks, to something like the halifax reward account, it has a £50 fee free buffer and doesn't charge fees on bounced direct debits0 -

There's no con. Reflects the modern lazy culture where everyone expects to be nannied throughout their lives. Blaming others and not accepting responsibility for their own actions and affairs. In years gone by how do think people coped? With just paper bank statements sent in the post once a month.0
