I whole-heartedly hate the tout system and the secondary markets that are clearly a con. However, if you do your research and find out who has the presales, and get logged on early you can normally manage - I've never failed to get tickets for an event I wanted to watch yet.

Then again, the most 'popular' bands I've got tickets for are Muse and Foo Fighters - I've never attempted the mainstream mega artists!

I would definitely avoid ticketmaster if you can when trying to buy tickets, I never get them off there unless it's a smaller artist, even then I prefer other sites.

I always find if you look at the tour dates for a band and you see some possible 'free' dates where they could do another date then it's likely they're holding back extra dates until the first ones are sold out.

Also bands tend to have more than an hour set and there's usually support acts so £75 for a ticket for a major band with good support acts is worth it in my opinion. For example I've just seen Def Leppard, with Whitesnake and Black Star Riders (aka Thin Lizzy) as support for £54 including all fees. Totally worth it!

i know it can be annoying , they should limit it to 1 ticket per person not the 4 6 8 ticket limits they apply

No 1 ticket is stupid, what if you get a ticket but your mate doesn't? I think 4 is a good ticket limit. It's a small group of friends or 2 couples, or a family. 1 ticket is a useless amount, what if you were a parent buying for you and 3 kids? The second hand market would be booming then as a lot of people may have only managed to secure 1 or 2 tickets when they require more!

The problem is touts and gigs being so popular these days that everyone wants to go. The only way to stop touts is what the Olympics and Glastonbury and a few other gigs have done - special tickets where the card holder has to be present. The Olympics even let you get a refund on your ticket if you couldn't go as they could sell it.

The lack of refunds for gigs is what causes touts. If there was a system in place where if you didn't get a ticket you could apply to be a in queue for when tickets that were 'refunded' to be sold on again, then you could decide if you still want them and then voila, you can go! And also clamping down on ticket re-selling not through the proper channels.

An excellent idea that unfortunately will probably never happen, as some of the biggest secondary ticket markets are owned by the same people who sell the original tickets.

I suspect Ticketmaster make a hell of a lot more money and margins from Get me In than they do from the main site...

Myself and 3 other members of my family were logged on to 3 different sites to buy Coldplay tickets. They were supposed to be available at 9.30 this morning. At 9.30 all 3 sites went from available shortly to sold out in less than 30 seconds.

Something has to be done, this can't be right.

    Very disappointed

Write to them and ask that they add extra gigs then, It is like anything in life tbh and once something is wanted they offer it out on a for sale on a demand basis so that they maximise the income against it.
