Coldplay tickets con

Myself and 3 other members of my family were logged on to 3 different sites to buy Coldplay tickets. They were supposed to be available at 9.30 this morning. At 9.30 all 3 sites went from available shortly to sold out in less than 30 seconds.

Something has to be done, this can't be right.

Very disappointed

Obviously we were not the only people in the queue.

So how strange that at 9.35 there are plenty of tickets available on the smaller sites like Get Me In (owned by Ticketmaster) at inflated prices from £120 upwards

The £45 tickets on the upper tier are already going for £121`

It is hard to get tickets for more popular bands as they do go so quick. There are tips to try to get tickets that those who re-sell tickets will be well up on. It is not a con, just that they are more experienced at knowing how to maximimize their chances of getting tickets.

A lot of it boils down to doing research beforehand such as finding out who is the biggest seller of tickets (I find Eventim and AXS are good, as they often have more than other sites and are quicker to use than say Ticketmaster, where you have to put in a word to prove you are a person). You then have to have fast internet, as those whose internet is faster will be ahead of you. Some sites have waiting rooms half an hour before hand so these people will head the queue. Pre-sales are good for fans too. With some sites such as Tickemaster it will kick you to the end of the queue if you refresh too many times in the 3-5 mins before, so that is something to consider. If you do a google you will find these tips.

I just had a look and extra dates are released and there are tickets for Manchester now on Sunday 5 June. That is another tip, keep an eye out for extra dates being added during the day and also even if sold out when booking, keep checking as people release tickets before paying and they become available again. Also nearer the date they often will release more tickets that are reserved for coporate clients who may return them. These are often really good seats. For a sold out Ed Sheeran gig , I got great seats three days before. Same DD wanted One Direction and later seconds of Summer tickets and got great seats at facevalue a week before.

Here is the provisional booking I started with Gigantic.com copied and pasted to show they are available and these will be released in 7 mins. Eventim, AXS also have tickets currently available for the Sunday in all price bands, so hopefully you will get these tickets. They may even add an extra date later if these sell out, if they do not have another gig in a day ot so times in another part of the country.

    SUMMARY

Here are the details of the 2 tickets you have selected for Coldplay at Etihad Stadium in Manchester on Sunday 5th June 2016 at 12:00AM :
Ticket TypeQuantityFace ValueBooking FeeCost Per TicketTotal CostGeneral Admission2£65.00£6.50£71.50£143.00Secure Delivery£5.95Total Cost*£148.95
  • If you're looking for Wembley, there are tickets stil available here:

    https://www.stargreen.com/coldplay.html/

Failing that, don't panic and don't get taken in by the touts. The tour promoters will almost certainly release additional tickets to these shows nearer the time, as tickets are returned and they finalise seating layouts, staging and sightlines, etc. You can usually pick these up with no problem.

You'll also find that prices on the secondary market will fall to around face value as the gigs approach. More people will find they can't go and will be looking to offload their tickets without making a profit.

(Whoops, having read susancs's post she's said basically the same thing.)

Is it just me, or does £148.95 for 2 tickets to see a band seem extortionate?

The secondary market tickets are almost certainly not put up by punters in that timeframe, a limited tranche of first release tickets will be sold fast to stimulate excitement but the secondary tranche is released direct to the secondary - promoters are not stupid ;-)

I agree it is a lot of money for probably a 60 minute set, but have to admit have paid similar for tickets. When you get to the venue, drinks, memorabilia and snacks are very overpriced too.

I'd call £1.48 extortionate if it was to see Coldplay!
  • If you have facebook follow BEST TICKETS GUIDE, they are independent and will give you advance notice prior to ticket release and where to buy genuine tickets at face value. They often suggest using a slightly different website prefix which can help you queue jump when waiting for tickets. I tried to get One Direction tickets for my daughter but had no luck initially, heard about this facebook page, got notified early when extra tickets released and got a direct link to Ticketmaster to buy tickets at face value in row adjacent to centre stage!!! Prob saved £100+ per ticket against what StubHub & Viagogo wanted.
