thrifty and TOG glad you are both sticking around
Calling also very envious of your lamb dinner, yum!
Another spendy day today - work christmas lunch plus a wee gift to take home to my parents.
I'm done something really silly and somehow forgot to hand in my timesheets for 2nd job this week so I won't get paid on FridayIn the 6 years I've been working for them, I've never forgotten, I can only put it down to being so busy and stressed with usual job that it just went out of my head. Anyway I've handed them in today but it means I won't get paid until Christmas eve. I've also left myself short for travelling back tomorrow  as although I have tickets to get as far as Glasgow, I still need to pay for travel the rest of the way. So... the emergency fund has taken a bit of a hit, I've transferred £100 into my account and will replace it when I get paid.
Leaving early tomorrow so better go and get myself packed. Today I'm grateful for
- having a wee emergency fund to be able to dip into
- work is over for 6 days
- a nice lunch outMortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86

Very glad turtles are staying and very glad to be here myself. Tackled washing up mountain earlier including pans and roasting dishes from last batch cook. Moved on to front room to shuffle /shove/ drag more furniture to the places I want it to be (all the jobs I didn't manage earlier in the year coming home to roost). DS3 shouted for me to turn the modem off and on again, nothing happened. He said he would come down and do it himself, shortly.
Went back in kitchen, checked a couple of things and said I needed him downstairs now. We had lights and a working boiler but no sockets working. DS3 tried flipping various switches in the fuse box - no joy. Tried some troubleshooting and some logic.
Phoned Mr and Mrs Builder (unable to take our call - suspect they may have flown off in search of sunshine). Blamed myself for over enthusiastic washing up - suspect water went behind sink and to fridge plug socket. Tried not to worry about all the food in the fridge and freezer. Considered moving fridge/ freezer and microwave to other house - still have stove top as that is gas.
Phoned DS2 to see if he had taken his parcel. Came yesterday and has disappeared. He had taken it. Told him he had a pile of post and I had found a box file of his old college notes and he could take some food with him. He and his friend had had the same problem with the electric once whilst they were renting. He managed to talk DS3 through the procedure (RSD - residual something, DS3 had asked what it was) and we have sockets again. (Fridge/ freezer/ internet/ light in my bedroom/ oven and microwave) Hooray.
Today I am grateful for electricity, for brothers co-operating (they can only do it via a phone line not if they are in the same room) and muddling through. Oh also have an appointment to talk to someone at the counselling place next Wednesday. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Yesterday was a spendy day for me but it was only on groceries and was within the budget. I did a click and collect shop with tesco for last night and this week I received a booklet of coupons so I got £4 off this weeks shop.
DH and DD went to DS's school play last night and we won the raffle. We got the main prize which was a food hamper, we were all very happy. It has wine, chocolates, loads of condiments, crisps, crackers etc so we are stocked to the rafters with goodies now.
It is dry here for a change but very dark at the moment, I am hoping to get out cycling later but if not I will run.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

And ANOTHER spend day. Posted my parents' parcel to Germany. Had it as one parcel initially (parcel, 2.5 kg) and she offered to send it (value maybe £30) for £65 :rotfl:, then 40 :rotfl: and then £27. So I took it back to the office to double check. In the end split it into two small parcels for £21 together, still shocking . Per kilo it is actually cheaper for me to get a proper return flight with Lufthansa than to send a parcel single way to the same place.
Looking fwd to a summery fajita dinner. Will see if DH can stay up long enough as he watched the premier of Star Wars last night at midnight in the cinema.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
