I have an update on my claim...sort of that sort of worries me in a sense.

I've recieved I assume the standard questionnaire thing I must fill in, on one page it's asking me for some form of things they'd like to see such as treatment plans, reports from places/people such as GP, Therapists etc, but I don't have anything like that what they are asking for, as although I've had to deal with this problem for some time about 4 months now which is both anxiety and depression, I have nothing to detail any reports or treatments as such as I've only just started admitting I have this problem to other medical people besides either of my GP's by going to a local mental health unit to look for help with my issue a little while ago, they did their Assesment and have basically referred me to another place where they believe they'll be able to help me with whatever treatment they feel is best suited to me, an I know that I won't get the call for that till about early January based on the waiting times they stated when I was told I was accepted for the referral.

I'm assuming by not providing anything that I don't have means they'll ask me to go to a Wprk Capability Assesment I believe they are called? this will not affect my ESA claim in any way such as delays will it?

I want to make sure I fill this form in correctly as I can first time round so there isn't any issues.

There will be a date on the form that they must receive the ESA50 back, If they don't get this back they will stop you're claim until you send it to them. Everyone has to go for a medical unless you can send enough proof of your illness that allows them to make a decision without you being there.

You should include a GP supporting letter, Any specialist you see also ask for a letter, List of all your medications, etc. This will all help. Sending appointment letters doesn't help.
  • But it's as I've stated I don't have anything in to send them.

From what I'm gathering that is completely fine because they'll just have me come do a medical there instead at my local JCP?

It's not like I can just walk in to doctors and say "Hey I need a supporting letter for this form" either, if it was that easy I would, it's very hard to get appointments within the week Open Surgery time isn't till Tuesday and I wouldn't want to take too long sending form because I know the Post gets pretty awkward during Christmas time so I would like it best to get it sent off asap.

Remember I've dealt with my problems for months now but only recently within about last month started to openly admit I have a problem due to the fact I've seen how people like me get treated by others, us with Anxiety or depression get seen as either it's not that big of a deal or it's basically all in our heads and its just gotten that bad for me this past month I just can't cope any longer with it it's draining me down.

You can actually just walk into you're doctors and ask for a supporting letter, I have done this and I got it. If you don't send any evidence along with your ESA50 there is very little chance you will pass. If you are seeing any specialists ask them for a supporting letter or ask for a copy of their initial report back to the GP.

It isn't DWP who does medicals, It is an external company. Check out centre for health and disability assessments, They will decide when your medical is and where about's it will be. If you want to get a home visit or a taxi to the medical you would need a doctors letter supporting your case for either.

I suffer from two types of anxiety, So I know exactly what it is like.

Guess I'll have to hold out till Tuesday then to go an see if I can get a supporting letter, I can't exactly get anything from a specialist as a treatment hasn't even started yet as I mentioned in a previous post it won't start likely till early January a woman at the place im supposed to be going to said on the phone.

I'm not gonna lie what you said about health centre worries me, I'm not very good with taking directions at all an I panic using public transport in case I get lost if I have to go somewhere that isn't local and I haven't been to before, do you have any idea if they keep the health centre appointment local or is it going to be out of the city I live in as such because if I've gotta travel or something I obviously can't have it being too expensive

Ah sorry didn't see the bit about the specialist, Your medical shouldn't be for a while anyway, So you should have enough time to see the specialist and get doctors letters, Even if you don't send them with the ESA50 you can just take them the face to face medical.

If you have problems with public transport, Explain to your doctor and tell them you need another letter to authorise a taxi to the medical or a home visit.

The health centre is generally in a city.
  • Well they want the letter by the 29th of December an im not expecting to get anything from the specialist mental health service till about early January so it's looking like only thing I can likely get is a GP's letter of support will that be acceptable?

I don't have much of a problem with public transport bar the fact if I get an appointment somewhere and I've never been there before or arrest been in the general area, I get scared and worried about looking a mess and a failure and pretty emotional about it inside as well so I dunno if they would make a change for me on that.
