No, that's not me, my previous car was an Astra. Why is he a mug?
Thank you everyone for all the replies btw. I have decided to go for the Accord. I am though now stuck between 2 options. Please can you all tell me which of these you would go for?
CAR 1
PRICE: £2400
AGE: 2004
MILEAGE: 82000
SER HIS: Part Service History - None for last 2 years
Good points: Cheaper than car 2, even after replacing 2 suspension bushes and carrying out Major Service (will have all filters and liquids changed) - Tyres and Disc Brake/Pads replaced last year. Rear Parking Sensor.
Bad Points - No history for last 2 years - No oil change last 2 and half years and only driven around 1000 miles per year. Requires Major Sevice £250- Broken Rear light costing £60 - 2 Suspension Bushes at around £150 - £200 (Total cost including repairs around £3000)
CAR 2
PRICE: £3200
AGE: £2005
MILEAGE: 73000
SER HIS: Full Service History
Good Points Year younger and 9000 less mileage - FSH, obviously had more responsible owner.
Bad Points More Expensive - Major Service due at £250 - Probably will require some other minor work- No receipts for works carried out.
Basically Car 1 would cost me £3000 in total hopefully, and car 2 would cost at least £3500 perhaps more. Budget is important but don't want to take any unnecessary risks. I just wanted to see what other people would do as I am not very knowledgeable with this kind of stuff. Thanks0 -
I wouldn't like to say without seeing the cars, the problem with the mileage is that those miles could be gentle motorway miles or harsh around town miles which can make a considerable difference to the condition of the car.
I wouldn't be particularly keen on the first one you've detailed due to the lack of maintenance, if the owner couldn't even be bothered to get it serviced I'd be concerned about the potential long term problems with it.

The current owner got it 2.5 years ago from his cousin who maintained a full service history. The current owner was a bit lazy though. Does 2.5 years make that much of a difference?0
