Bank Account Software

Options
Im looking for advice on software to singularly manage a range of UK based Current and savings accounts, as well as credit cards. Trying to utilise the best offers on the market, as well as a beginner at stoozing, life is becoming a little complex.

I seem to have found an online tool: Money Dash Board, where you can automatically import all of your bank and credit card statements into one "account".

This is good, but I want something on my desktop, local, which works offline. I have tried and demoed many options, but none seem to do this effectively. You either have to be US/Canada based or have to import statement files manually.

Packages that I have tried are as follows:
- Microsoft Money (not supported any more)
- YNAB
- NCH
- Money Line
- Ace Money
- Bank Tree
- Metalogic Finance Explorer
- Money Dance

I have also tried with Mint, Quicken, Yodlee, Expensr, moneystrands.

Is anyone aware of software that can be used to automatically access multiple bank accounts in the UK?

Thanks

If you are looking for something that logs into all your accounts and synchronises all transactions with your personal finance manager, you are probably looking in vain.
  • Thanks Colsten, I get the feeling you are probably right.

However, there seems to be a number of software options in the US for doing this, so surprised it isn't available in the UK.

Also, web platforms such as OnTrees and MoneyDashboard function in the UK, I just wanted a local option that would work offline.

Anyone else have experience with this?
  • I have been looking for something like this for years, but have never found anything that works.

I currently use Yodlee, as this is the best option that I can find.
  • There is nothing like that but there are a few in the USA
  • Is that because the UK bank login procedures involve entry of selected digits from randomised positions in a password/memorable info which make it virtually impossible to have any form of automated login?

The free "cash book" from VTsoftware.co.uk will do the job. It's desktop based, BUT it won't import directly from the banks - you'll have to do that manually. I don't know of any UK based desktop software that will do the auto bank imports. BUT, plenty of cloud-based options.

Logging in is not a problem for most of my accounts. I have been using accountunity for many years, and Egg Money Manager before then. It doesn't download any transactions but I think they are working on a major upgrade which will become available next year.
