Non-rechargeable batteries are never a bargain - they are an environmental disaster. Use rechargeables, please.

    Yes

    For example

    http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500000701&langId=-1&searchTerms=AAA+rechargeable&go.x=14&go.y=15

If that link doesn't work just search for AAA rechargeable at argos.co.uk

Yes they exist, I get mine from ALDI at £1.99 for 4. They work fine and are great for all those remote controls around.

    NO....:D

You can get a battery charger from the link below that will charge normal batteries.

I am surprised that someone who cares about the environment so much didn't know about it:)

Non re-chargeable batteries can only be topped up a few times, and is the process is frought with danger of explosion or caustic chemical leakage.

That is why they are marked, DO-NOT-re-charge.

+The high cost of these "chargers" is a waste of money.
    Another green hype. ;)

They are on offer (if offer you call it) in lidl at the moment - I think it's 4 for £1.99.

Incidentally though - sometimes you can't use recharable batteries - or more accurately the manufacturers tell you not to - in this case I'd rather (slap wrist) have a valid warranty than the tiny bit of damage a set of non recharables do to the enviroment.

Incidentally anyone found a rechargable watch battery.

I've recently bought the £1 X 4 AA's from Poundland and they work fine.
The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.

I am not into the green hype but you seem to be listening to the battery companies hype.
If you are selling a product in the UK it has to pass a series of tests, If there was a chance of exploding batteries the item would be banned.

Maplins have a cheaper greener charger only £9.99
