It's only a redundancy situation if the company no longer needs the roles.
What they seem to be saying is that they do still need the jobs but as home based rather than office based - same job, different working environment.
Where does the 10K pay cut come in? I was a bit confused by what you'd written. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

If I was to decide to leave then local jobs pay ~10K less now.
They are expecting us to work at home ... home is not where I'd elected to work from or can they just decided that my home should become an office.0 -
What does your contract say about where you are based?
Are you in a union you can contact for advice?
I think they have to carry out a consultation and have a good business case, but if they do all that and you refuse then they can dismiss.
However whether that was fair or not would depend on the above factors.
You're saying the home working is on a temporary basis - what's the long term plan?
As an aside, I much prefer home working , but that's because a large part if my role is out and about. I'd probably feel isolated if the whole job was home based. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Elsien, firstly thanks.
That's it they do not say, they say they will talk with original company about there staff sharing a smaller office. The office closure has been on the cards for over 2 years, one reason for the outsourcing. They say they will rent a room once a week to have a team meeting in. Yep isolation is a concern... I could take a new role with them, but that would be travel. (and suspect loss of gold lined contract).
My original contract says xyz... a bit of paper Tupe transfer said we would work in same office and then change to homebased after 4 months transition ... 4 months was actually 8 months back and I'm sitting at the same desk (they did not define or ask if we could work from home at the time). I think it was a wish that the office close 8 months back, but did not.
There are statements about transferring to other roles means contract will change ... they go hot and cold on there is work to do... when in fact original company can't stop generating it....
one guy in the office is in union, but new company says they don't recognise union.
Suspect I need to decide what's important... but kick in teeth for being supportive to both companies.0 -

My original contract says Bournemouth... a bit of paper Tupe transfer said we would work in same office and then change to homebased after 4 months transition .If it was discussed and agreed during the TUPE process, were the concerns raised then?.. 4 months was actually 8 months back and I'm sitting at the same desk (they did not define or ask if we could work from home at the time). I think it was a wish that the office close 8 months back, but did not.
There are statements about transferring to other roles means contract will change ... they go hot and cold on there is work to do... when in fact insurance company can't stop generating it.... although could be losing money.
one guy in the office is in union, but new company says they don't recognise union. They don't have to recognise the union for him to talk to them and find out more about the legalities, which he could then share with you if he wished.
Suspect I need to decide what's important... but kick in teeth for being supportive to both companies.
Two other possibilities - does your household insurance have legal cover that might be able to help get some answers, or could you try the half hour free consultation with a solicitor who knows employment law to get more idea of your rights? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

According to the government website on redundancy
You may lose your right to statutory redundancy pay if you unreasonably turn down suitable alternative employment.
I would say they are offering you suitable alternatives, same role just home based.0 -
I'd strongly suggest a bit (or a lot) of judicious editing here. There is more than enough information to identify you!0

to question about homebased during tupe, same ...we could look to open office in the area etc but not firm ...did say was going to be difficult to fully work from home. Still seems strange they can make you convert part of your home into there office....reducing there cost and 2 companies not paying redundancey.0 -
More from the angle that your company could identify you and be concerned about the information bringing them into disrepute.
Golden rule - don't put anything on a public forum that could identify you unless you're prepared for it to come back and bite you on the bum.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
