Get some Gunk from any good car accessory shop. Read the instructions regarding use and it will dissolve the oil. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Be very careful that any cleaning agent that you use doesn't affect the integrity of the driveway. Also has the oil penetrated the driveway, this could also affect its structure.
Any petroleum chemical ( petrol, diesel, white spirit) will remove the oil but carefully does it...a bit at a time.0 -
I think Alfrescodave is right - from memory, I recall that the instructions for Gunk specifically advise against using it on your car engine while it is parked on a tarmac surface - presumably because it will dissolve not only oil but the tar which binds together the tarmac!0

You also get some citrus based de-greasers which should be completely safe for tarmac0

i've heard that flat coco cola does the trick0

Don't know about tarmac but the cheapest and easiest way i have found to remove oil is paraffin.I have used it on flags, concrete, brick and other surfaces, pour on, use stiff brush then rinse with cold water. You can buy it by the gallon at many garages. You may need to do it a couple of times if the oil is thick.I have tried gunk with similar results but paraffin is loads cheaper.
There are two sides to every story.

Do not use gunk driveway cleaner. Tarmac is an oil based material. Gunk disolves oil. Nuff said.
I have used a cream bath cleaner and washing up liquid. Pour a good amount on, scrub in with a stiff broom or old scrubbing brush, leave for a few hours and then wash off. Repeat as necessary.0 -
