As long as you recognise that you could, and will, do better in future.
I was able to retire at the age of 54, so haven't done badly:). As I always say it's a balance, and sometimes making a small payment for a service that makes life easier is worth it's weight in goldEarly retired - 18th December 2014

you need to sit down and have a cup of quiet cup of tea, your recent messages are varying shades of dodgy (first one deffo illegal)

Trying to save money can become addictive but you have to look at the bigger picture sometimes. The chances are that a faster payment would arrive the same day but what would be the consequences if it didn't?
Completion is Tomorrow. This thread is miniscule compared to later in the afternoon...solicitor calls to say the bank claim they never received his letter asking for funds to be released on whatever day :f luckily he faxed a copy & they've accepted it to release funds Tomorrow....good thing I asked him if the bank was transferring in Today which probably made him check (rather than just finding out Tomorrow when no money arrived).
TSB Twitter said they'll let the branch know the correct transfer limit; sadly no pay out for inconvenience caused =/Mortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0

As this post was directly after my last post, I just wanted to point out that it wasn't addressed to me!
Although it does address one my other pet annoyances on MSE - dodgy/borderline illegal behaviour being justified as 'money saving'Early retired - 18th December 2014

And yet not a single person on here can they say they've never enjoyed the benefits of a pirated game, movie, album. I'm sure many others have purchased illegal contraband and probably get Sky TV & Internet for free.
Unlike any of those the first could be argued as an honest mistake by her moving in 1 week later & me forgetting to update the council...at least until they sent an update statement.
Yorkshire Bank got butchered on here by exploiting their T&Cs not specifying a limit. I don't believe NatWest specify that DDs can't be inflated so it's comparable.Mortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0

I've never pirated games, movies or albums, bought dodgy things that 'fell off the back of a lorry' or have been illegally smuggled into the country and I didn't even know it was possible to get Sky TV and internet free. But I'm intrinsically honest.
Your mum moving in with you and you not telling the council could only be an honest mistake, if it WAS an honest mistake. You post on the other thread suggests otherwiseEarly retired - 18th December 2014

I pretty much concur with Goldiegirl. I can understand (but not condone) dishonesty if you're truly on your uppers but if you can afford to pay your taxes then you should without question. I pay my taxes to the extent that I recently bought a watch from John Lewis instead of Amazon despite their being a £15-20 premium via JL.
I can't bemoan Amazon but then cheat the taxes myself.0
