I meant Octavia. Is it Passat in a different wrapper?

    Oh, my bad. :o

I think the Octavia is built on a Golf frame, Fabia is on the Polo. The Octavia is a very nice looking car, just depends what you're after really. Got a ride in one of the new Octavias and it felt like the Passat we used to have (R reg), good quality and comfy ride.

We found the Fabia to be a lot better (and bigger) than we expected though. We've done 1600 miles on it in the 2 weeks (usually only do 7k a year in our own car) that we've had it and it's been very comfortable (and we're still not sick of it)

    Cheers

    Jeff

Another vote for Skoda here. :) We're on our second Octavia Estate, after having a Volvo. The reason we looked into it was because we saw one at a dog show and spoke to the owner and she raved about it, having had Volvos and Passats for donkey's years.

That being said, although we've got the Octavia Estate, it's really for hauling the dogs around. If it were just a car for me and the OH though, I'd have a Fabia. A VRS. ;):D

    Octavia it is then.
    Thanks to all.
Now to convince the dealer not to charge credit card fees (should not be too hard).

    Is this a joke?

You say you can't buy them a used car because it's a gift, but you can buy them a Skoda?
