Best v4m family car within £11k (new)?

I'd recommend the Fabie. We just got the mid level (2) spec and our first trip in it was for our hols to scotland (from somerset). Very comfy car for 2 adults and 2 small(ish) kids. Got the 1.2 petrol engine and it is a really good size for the car and got about 40 - 45 mpg on the motorways. Lots of nice kit as standard and will come in at under 10k in the solid paint colour, or just over in metallic. We're very pleased with it and honestly feel like it's a far bigger car than it is (in a good way).

Aside from the fabia, we looked at the renault clio (too small, plastic), peugeot 207 (nice but pricey), polo (way too pricey), corsa (nice but don't like the local garage - bad experience in the past has cost them a sale), Auris (pricey), Civic (pricey).

Best just looking round the garages really to see if there is something out there you particularly like. We really like the Fabia though

Also check out Citroen...loads of good cars for well under 11k..

Just a thought...why not take 'em with you and let them choose?

They may well fall in love with something you hate or might hate something you love.

new bravos have just been released. IIRC they start for under 10k

The Mitsubishi Colt 5dr can be had for 6.5k new from many dealers, it's HUGE inside, got a great 1.1 engine which is much more powerful that the competitors and it does better MPG.

Also great are the Daihatsu Siron and the Kia Cee'd, special SR version is a fantastic car for 10k

I've got a Skoda now,it's brilliant. Last car was a brand new Citreon. It had to go back to dealers 26 times in two years. I've since heard of many others with unreliable Citreons,avoid like the plague!

I don't think you'll regret buying a Fabia. I certainly don,t. Skoda often do deals with 3 years free servicing.This would be a great bonus for your parents,

IMO the 2 is the best value spec level, it has most things that you'd want whereas the 1 looks like it's unfinished (no air con, remote locking, less speakers, etc.) and the 3 just seems to be a bit too much. The only thing I added to it when I got it was the parking sensors (as I'd hate to scratch it parking )

Our garage had the 2 and 3 in stock so it might be worth popping in to have a look.
