AOL Upgrade

Options
Back in May/June I was informed via e-mail, and also noticed others on here had, that my AOL speed was going to be upgraded free from 1mb to 2mb in either July or August.

With 1 week to go in August, i've not yet had my upgrade. I know I can get 2mb as I used to have it before downgrading.

Has anyone had their upgrades yet. I know it's still 6 days to go, but I thought i'd ask

Did they mean August this year or next?
    I'm realy exited...:j cant wait.
To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....
  • I also received the "Upgrade Email"..... I sent several Email's asking when I could expect the Upgrade to take place....each answer I received said within a week or so....well that was back in May of this year:mad:

When I first joined AOL Silver my line was activated at 2mb's download speed, then after a very short period of time is was throttled back to 1mb download speed....so I believe that the upgrade only requires a software tweak;)

tomsolomon - This August, as in now. :)

tobydog - I wouldn't be surprised if this upgrade never happens

Ems - AOL is fine if you want unlimited access/downloads etc. Customer Service is usually okay, but as with any company, some CSA's don't do what they say they will.

The problem with AOL is the whole software package that comes with it, but some on here will let you know of a way where you don't need to install all the software if you have a router. I'm not technical, so best to ask in Techie Stuff

My last ISP went bust....so October last year I changed to AOL Broadband 1mb download speed on a 12 month contract for £9.99 per month.

I have found the AOL connection first class in every way.....it was the promise of increase speed which lets them down.....

You do not need to install the AOL software in order to access the internet
  • same situation as sylvester .. told about it months ago.

have contacted them every 2 weeks .. they kept saying 1st aug .. came & went.
2 weeks ago today they guaranteed me it would happen within 7 days .
1 week ago today .. they absolutely guaranteed it would happen within 3 to 5 days .

have just checked speed .. no suprise there ! .. still 950

    topnav.jpg Dear **********
Your AOL Broadband Silver speed upgrade

You may remember that we wrote to you recently with good news about your AOL Broadband Silver download speed, which is being upgraded from up to 1Mbps to a faster connection of up to 2Mbps* as a thank you for your loyalty.

It is taking a little longer than we hoped to carry out the upgrade. We expect to complete all speed upgrades in August and September.

And you don’t have to do a thing. Better still, it won't cost you a penny more.

    What happens next?

Your speed upgrade will happen automatically. We will write to let you know when the speed upgrade starts, and again as soon as your connection speed has been upgraded.
In the meantime, you will continue to be able to access and browse the Internet as normal.

    Best wishes

as Tobydog27 My AOL went bust (E7EVEN). I went AOL for £9.99 in Aug 06 1 meg. In May 07 I moved houses so got the speed upgrade 2 mbs. Phoned AOL on Friday to Cancel (not that I was), they asked why I told them SKY are doing upto 8mbps (well it's 16 mbps), They said they can do that for me also. I said if you can then no problems I will stay.

Funny thing is that I don't even have TV never mind SKY :).

They also give me free for 6 months All day phone calls....

    I am getting 4mbps now.

    That's what I call service :)
