Morning everyone.
Coughing still. I'm resigned to it and catch sleep when I can. I will have to out today to pick up fresh milk and so on. I'm using milk dated bb 11 Nov which is good going even for me. My fridge needs cleared out as there's meat going off which needs binned and tipped.
Camelot - hope you enjoy Spectre, it's certainly a feast for the eyes without being a challenge to the intellect.
JackieO - congrats to your DGS's GF. They sound strong enough to survive the distance.
Right, off to shower and get myself out the house. Must buy a card for my neighbours' loss too.
It's not so cold today and perhaps the fresh sea air will sort out my snot!
Happy Tuesday everyone.0 -
Good Morning everyone, the rain has passed through and left us dry with broken cloud and decidedly warmer than the last few days. Housework done, washing up in the utility room and He Who Knows is out with the Cookie Monster. We are planning a drive to Sainsbugs this morning to see if the gammon offer is still on, it was at £3 per kilo so worth checking out and then this afternoon we're for the first time in 12 years able to go to the cinema together and see Spectre, followed by a meal out. Unthinkable when we had Docky but I'm looking forward to it so very much!
HESTER your hurt will pass lovey, it seems an incomprehensible thing that anyone, let alone a close relative could be so lacking in courtesy as to behave in that way anywhere let alone at a loved mothers funeral. I think bowing to the departed is a wonderfully respectful gesture and I'm delighted for you that a grandson took your BILs place to carry his grandmothers coffin, that is a lad to be so proud of. Your BIL and his wife sound like people who will find anything that doesn't dance to their piping completely wrong, I'll wager they don't have many friends? and those they do have will be clones of them. If they have reached adulthood without being able to restrain themselves from childish temper tantrums when they are NOT given their way I actually feel sorry for them, they must look at the rest of you who do and have behaved with decorum and respect and not understand you at all. I'm sure your dear MIL will find it in her heart to forgive them and this painful memory will pass, perhaps not be forgotten entirely but you will all find 'level' again and with that comes peace and calmness. You're a strong lassie and I'm glad that your OH and his siblings have someone like you to hold them together, they'll maybe not say it to your face pet but they'll appreciate all you have done and will do for them, especially FIL, GOOD GIRL!!!
Have yourselves a lovely day everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all,
Hester - Sad that some people don't know how to conduct themselves.
Sausage casserole in the slow cooker. Will have some breakfast shortly.
Feeling quite down at the moment. All this Terrorist business is bothering me and what with a whole city centre being almost completely closed... The thing is it's not really like me to be so affected. I wonder if the weather has something to do with it. Maybe I have SAD!
Anyway onwards and upwards. The boys are going to football tonight so I shall get the sewing stuff out. I bought some felt last week so I could make personalised gift tags for the family0 -
Good Morning OSers,
Hugs to those who need one :grouphug:
Another chilly one today, popped the heating on for an hour whilst DD got herself dressed, will proberly be on again just before bed. I have gotten extra blankets out, all cleaned ready for the evenings so we can be nice and snug without having the heating on too much.
Dinner tonight will be jacket spuds with cheese, bacon and broccoli.
Just placed my Asda order for 2 weeks time. I have spent a little more than usual as i popped afew christmas foods in (and wine).
Will pop to the market stalls for my fruit and veg as and when, and the butcher for my meats. I will need Aldi for cat food- she much prefers their meat and at 21p each i can't moan at all!
Will sit down later and look at finances. Check my budget and see how many more christmas presents i still need, i think i'm nearly done :T, hopefully Dec will just be bits n bobs.
Right, tea break over so back to work!

Terrorists can't be everywhere at the same time. We live just south of Warrington, so feel we had our turn years ago.
I think one just has to decide that like every other disaster that strikes in life 'it won't be me'. We mustn't worry about every little thing. Just deal with the things that do happen when they happen."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I too cannot abide Nigella, silly woman with an even sillier name, sounds like a chocolate spread. Soo full of her imagined importance, does she think we have forgotten her forays into the Colombian marching powder. Not a great role model I feel.
Very worrying news about the Russian plane being shot down, some poor Mother has lost her son,as if there isn't enough trouble in the middle East at the moment.Makes me so cross the foolishness and pride of mankind that they seem intent on blowing their neighbours to bits at the slightest opportunity.Life is so precious to so many people.0 -
Speaking as one who has diagnosed SAD, the best way out is to talk to your GP. After many years I now have almost got this manageable. The first years I had extensive periods off work in the winter. These days with the assistance of medication, SAD lamp, working at home, modifying my lifestyle and taking holidays as late as possible in the year or in the winter I more or less cope. But not all the time.
As with all these things, it's best to seek help so you get the best treatment. Part of this will be ruling out other conditions which have some of the same symptoms.
Nigella really can't be held responsible for her name!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Have had a quiet morning. Got up early to put out the wheelie bin and load the washing machine with bedding.
Made a huge pot of chicken and veg soup and had some for a late lunch. Staying in as I was expecting a friend to pop round and collect the gas heater I offered to lend her.
DD and I are going for a shopping trip tomorrow and popping in to the lawyer to sign some more forms.
Older dd has a business trip planned in Brussels next week so I am trying not to panic and telling myself that ironically it might now be the safest place to be.
I can't seem to get round to wrapping presents yet but really should get myself in gear.

I have loads of this in my garden every year.
Hester de-stressing vibes, hun. Words fail me. I think that was a lovely gesture to bow to the coffin. I tell you what, death sure does bring out the worst in some folks; poor Mr LW was prevented from attending his sister's funeral because his XW invited herself along for the sole purpose of causing ructions. At least your MiL will be safely away in the Summerlands now. x
I haven't been around much lately - simply didn't really have anything to say that wouldn't have dragged the thread down, and I felt folks have enough on their plates without me wittering along being miserable, so I've been staying quiet. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

We share the good and the bad so please don't feel you should not post. I hope you are not in as much pain and that things get resolved for you."This site is addictive!"
