Jobsworth at arcade

We have had a lovely day today at Skegness, before we went home we popped into an Arcade as my daughter wanted to spend her £1 on the 2p machines.

I goes and get the £1 changed into 2's for her, after about 10 minutes she wanted to spend her last 20p of 2's on the grabber machine.

So me any my daughter went to the change kiosk , she gave the cashier her 20p of 2's and asked for a 20p, the person behind the counter said "sorry we cant change that back to anything else" .

Now i can understand if she had loads of money to change , but all we were talking about here is 20p

I asked a few times and shes looked at a old lady in the kiosk behind her and she just shook her head.

My daughter was upset but a man behind us in the que changed it for her.

I cant understand why they were being such a jobsworth over 20p of 2's especially to a 4 year old girl.

    That is absolutely ridiculous.

What harm would it have done for them to change it? It's not like they will not be able to use the 2's!

You've got to name and shame the arcade! I'm going in the next couple of weeks (I just love Skeg!), and will be quite happy to go to the arcade for you, ask for £1 of 2p's ... and then insist they count out each 2p for me! x

The 2p change machines are specially for the 2p games. The normal change machines don't except anything lower than 10p. I think they don't really want to change 2ps. They just assume that most people will just use them all on the 2p machines. I know it sounds silly but that's how mots of the places work.

Perhaps, Zinger, but what kind of person could be so hard boiled with a 4 year old? Rotten sod.

But they didn't use a change machine!

I used to live in Skeg, and spent many an hour in arcades (times bad = 2p stress relief!). I never had a problem changing 2p's back (and I always did, I'm tight like that!). All the cashier does is put them straight back in the sorting machine and back out to the next person!

It was the arcade opposite the pier , cant remember the name of it but its owned by the Bells company on the corner (all staff had a bell logo on there shirts) , i think they own most of the seafront arcades if not all of them .

And at some point the staff, the same staff in the kiosk, have to fill the 2p machine with 2p's.

I'll pop in while I'm there.

Pity I'll be on my own, or I'd get someone to record them manually counting out all the 2p's for me! x

Funny thing is the next large arcade along the front is also owned by Bells and they changed some 2's earlier that day no problem.

Am I the only one that thinks both sides on this argument are going a bit OTT over 20p?
