Try Ashford. It is less than three miles from the airport yet not under any flight path as it sits almost directly south of the runways - which operate east/west of the airport.

I bought a house exactly that way in Aberdeen awhile back. And just this year I bought a house in Devon that exact same way was well. And as far as I know both are still in the UK

I can deal with noise, just not big jet noise, so that sounds ok.
