I don't tend to notice anyone at the gym unless I am aware I'm being stared at, someone is wearing a very cool outfit or is making a scene of themselves (include people who unnecessarily grunt or throw down weights in a bid to get everyone else's attention).

If I feel like I'm being stared at or someone is watching my gym stats on the machine I will initially ask them to please stop staring at me then either glare at them or move, I don't think I'm alone in not wanting to be stared at in the gym.
Most people are in their own world or the world of YouTube/the TV or with their own friends, I doubt I could pick out anyone who attends my gym if I were offered money to pick them from a crowd, even if they were in their gym kit!

The only time i've noticed is when doing bench press, but I think either they are looking to see if we look like we're almost done with it, or it's just fascination at a girl bench pressing as i'm the only one that does. But at me as in because of size etc, not that i'm aware of
  • I do classes and stand right at the front because I would rather not have anyone in front of me. I dont care who is watching me but I would be a bit freaked out by someone commenting on my bum (especially if it was a bloke).

A lot of women are really bothered about being watched in the classes I do and try to get as far to the back as possible. I can understand this, you go there to exercise, not to be gawped at and most of us dont look our best when we are all hot and sweaty.

As a guy I wouldn't be able to resist having a look at a beautiful woman while i'm recovering after a lift (hey i'm only human), but i'm usually in the zone most of the time. I'm too busy concentrating on my fitness goals.

I go in the gym to work hard. Instead of staring at peopke sometimes it's best to go talk to people. Many friendships / relationships have started in the gym

You're at the back and the front? (or are just very very fast!) ;)

Some posters on there definitely don't want to be talked to!

  • I train in a spit and sawdust gym so it's typically full of people that take their training very seriously. We have quite a few powerlifters who train there so it's quite common for the gym to come to a standstill if someone is attempting a PR. I had an audience watching my last deadlift PR and a round of applause afterwards :D

It's a good job I don't mind people watching as my gym attire is pretty loud, so I'd be hard to miss!
