Questions about Netflix and similar

I currently have TV, phone and broadband with Sky at £60/month, and I'm looking to change to save money.
Because I don't use the landline at all, it seems logical to get unlimited broadband (Fuel is £16.40/month for 12 months and then only £21.40/month after that), and then a streaming service, resulting in £25-£30/month instead of £60. But I know nothing about the multitude of streaming services, so I have some questions if anyone can help:
It seems like the two leaders are Netflix and Amazon Prime - is it worth looking beyond either of these or not?
TV shows are more important to me than films (even though I love films), because there are still good films on Freeview regularly, if that can help me choose.
When TV shows and films are added, do they stay forever or have a time limit before being removed (like Sky Boxsets does)?
Can I assume that you can't record from the streaming service? The Sky Box is really useful, although I do have a DVD recorder, and a SMART TV with Freeview built in, and a separate Freeview box. But I guess I wouldn't be able to record stuff for watching whenever I want (or for keeping on DVD) unless it was from Freeview?
Do recent shows get added after Sky broadcast? For example, will the current season of Walking Dead on Fox be added to Netflix, Prime etc soon after it finishes on Sky?
Are there websites where I can find out what content is available on the streaming services before signing up?
Also, what about nature documentaries? I watch quite a lot of Nat Geo Wild and Eden on Sky, so I wonder if any of the streaming services have nature documentaries?
There's also the Now TV Entertainment Pack for £7/month which has Sky Atlantic and Fox, would that be worth considering? Although having channels rather than shows would be limiting I guess.
Thanks for any help.

Check Fuel and their previous incarnation before moving .0

I love Netflix theres so much on there to watch! Sky is good for pause rewind record. But the cost made me switch to BT and like you say if your gonna really miss Sky Atlantic and One etc Now TV would be the way to go and have 2 boxes. Netflix on BT Box. The reason I switched to them was to get the sports free and they offered to buy out my contract at the time.0

Yeah maybe Fuel aren't such a great idea, quite a few bad reviews, and linked to TalkTalk. Maybe Plusnet is the way to go. Looks like there is a £75 cashback deal via this site, although the Tuesday deadline will be a bit too soon for me.
And I guess Netflix is the way to go for TV and film. I'm not sure it would be worth me having the Now TV box as I would only be interest in a handful of shows on a handful of the 13 channels, and I bet the shows end up on Netflix anyway, and if not then there's always the option of buying a DVD box set.0 -
Don't forget you can access Now TV via A PC/Laptop without need for the box0

Yes although I prefer to watch on the TV rather than a monitor. But I could always buy the box and then buy the odd month here and there when something is on.
Either way there are definitely better options available now than the standard TV, phone and broadband package.0 -
We love Now TV and you can get the box for the same price as a subscription anyway (Its normally £6.99 a month for entertainment, box and six months is £39.99 http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4590602.htm)
Now TV offers the same shows as Sky and the box sets seem to come and go regularly. But it is best for the latest content (Game of Thrones & Walking Dead) as you can watch at the same time as they would air on Sky.
Netflix has some good original content (House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Kimmy !!!!!!!) and an OK selection of movies, but the TV that isn't made by Netflix can be hit or miss.
Amazon also has some good original shows, but the other stuff is quite old.
Basically if you want the latest shows, such as Walking Dead you need Now TV or Sky. Amazon does have Walking Dead on Prime but only seasons 1-2, everything you need to pay extra for.0 -
I know that previous seasons of Walking Dead were repeated on Channel 5 soon after finishing on Fox. I don't know if that is still the case or not though.
And for Game of Thrones maybe a DVD box set would be the way to go (same for Walking Dead if required). I can't think of many other shows that I watch on Sky Atlantic, only The Leftovers at the moment and I've found that a bit disappointing compared to season 1.
I think I'll probably go for Plusnet broadband plus Netflix, and see how that goes. There is certainly money to be saved.0
