Man, you guys make me even more worried! Malawarebytes comes up clean on scan & I no longer get annoying ads anywhere -so- isn't my laptop now clean?:j I hope my comment helps :T0

If an executable (i did not say exe
) is saved, updated, or modified, it makes a beep and flashes 4 rectangles, then hides away again.
The big limitation is that you have to out the software in a place where it can write its log file, so do not put it in a place like c:\program files
It is sometimes surprising to see the changes made to you PC without your knowledge and permission.0 -

You can never be sure that your computer is absolutely free from malware unless you format your hard drive and install everything from scratch direct from the vendor. Then, to remain really secure, turn the power off, cut the network cable and bury your computer in concrete:)
Meanwhile - back in the real world - the aim is to manage the risk.
Use whatever tools are available to ensure your drive is as clean as can reasonably be expected and then ensure it stays that way.
As the old saying goes – an ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure.
Bear in mind though that the biggest area of risk is between the monitor and the chair. If you invite a burglar into your home it’s hard to complain when he robs you!0 -
I am going to do a new Firefox profile though - a precaution. Because I'm not techie minded I'm psycing myself up to do it. But I will do, then I may just upgare to Windows 10!!!!!:j I hope my comment helps :T0
