    Evening all,

I've come across two transactions that I do not recognise or have I authorised.

The amounts are £19.50 to GM Credit Ace and £19.45 to Trakkit.co.uk.

I have looked and they seem to be part of payday loans who pass your details on but funny thing is, when I have applied for such loans, I was careful to tick that I do not want any information passed onto 3rd parties.

I have phoned Halifax and they cannot tell me if there are any CPA's on my account nor can then reverse the payments.

I'm a bit stuck as to what to do as that's well needed money up for Christmas!

I'm afraid this is a scam. Your card details were stolen when you were mislead, probably believing you were verifying your identity on a loan comparison website or broker. They will claim you opted into their service, but will be unable to prove this. It's almost certainly not going to stop there, they operate under many different names: Trakkit, Credit Ace, Cloud Nine, Credit Cleaner and the list goes on. They are all start up companies, all with mail forwarding addresses and all with the same, sole director, Mr Michael Martin Waylett, using the address 20-22 Wenlock, London, or 145-147 St Johns, London. Both mail forwarding addresses.

Contact the fraud agency, financial ombudsmen, and if you're up for really pursuing this criminal, Watchdog and any other media outlet possible.

I'm afraid my bank were all too aware of this con artist, even having contact details readily to hand. Keep a very close eye on your account, as most people discover more and more unauthorised debits from ever increasing, Unknown companies.

Associated companies (outrageously claiming to help protect against the very fraud they carry out the, selves)

    Claims Services ltd

    Cloud nine

    Lansdowne technologies

    Marketing intelligence

    Miura partners

    Smart digital tech

    Thames Technologies

    Wise Debt solutions

    Xplore marketing

Each company operates various "stylings", i.e. they trade under different names!

Wow, thanks for that. Amazing how this happens though. I'm going to Halifax tomorrow, any advice? Show them this thread? I'm at loose ends at how to stop any more potential outgoings! Absolutely petrified.

Ask Halifax to cancel any continuous payment authorities on your card (if they say they can't, remind them that they can and have a duty to when you ask them to).

You likely did authorise the initial two payments (given that you didn't read the T&Cs for Checkmyfile, I'm sceptical you've read any other T&Cs in sufficient detail to know that you didn't authorise them), so I don't know how likely you are to get these back

**It's worth noting, there's some rules about companies hiding continuous payments after a free trial, you may be able to claim what you've paid back on the basis that key terms were hidden from you in small print**

They can't cancel 'any' as they have no means to do this.
There are no any CPAs that they can see "on a card". It's not like a DD that can be set, seen and cancelled.

The only they can do is to mark some particular company taking payments and in the future either block the payments or refund immediately and charge back the company.

Even if there is some special code for CPA transactions, the companies often don't use it when taking CPA payments

If you are satisfied that you did not authorise payments, you can ask the bank to refund them. Be aware, though, that the bank can reverse that again if it subsequently turns out that you did.

i searched for loan company and minute-money come up.
filled form and asked me for card details to charge £0.10p. i paid and after i get message from scumbags saying you have 7day free trial.
i call couple of them budget-wise and number provided on site is cancellation team. so, they dont have any other number.
Other one is creditboost and same again. phoned them and getting to cancellation team.
Each of them charge you r account £0.10, £0.20p. even if you cancel if you don't cancel they will charge you £19.00
Make sure you ask for full refund of £0.10p

i guess they make about 5k a day.

No reputable lender will require card details to charge 0.10p, the money will be transferred into a bank account.

    A lesson learnt.

    Easy to make this mistake.

I remember one of the mobile phone shops used to ask for a credit/debit card in order to charge 1p. This was part of ID checking (because you needed a PIN) when you were signing a new contract for a new phone and no upfront payment was required. Completely legit.
