I replaced my TomTom Live 850 a year ago as I was sick of theIr rip-off traffic subscription fees when Garmin provides lifetime free of charge map updates AND traffic. We have a 2598 which I use daily and a 3598 which my partner uses. They are both excellent, none of these strange problems you are describing. I update the maps every quarter. Not familiar with a 2508 but the mapping will be the same, perhaps contacting Garmin customer services will provide a simple solution. My Garmin is far better than any of the TomToms that preceded it in our house.

Regardless of model of satnav, all the mapping is produced by just two companies, so errors will appear across brands using the same generation of mapping.

However the way that different companies use the basic mapping data to calculate routes is obviously very different.

Personally I have found Tom Tom to be far superior.

Many thanks. I thought a Sat Nav would be a great asset but not in reality trying to find one that simply does what it is supposed to do.
