If you 're-read what I posted, I said 'routine' eye tests as the op hasn't mentioned anything in his posts regarding anything with regards to needing more frequent tests due to his own or family history.0 -
the important thing is was the eye test funded by the NHS? If yes then the optician should issue your optical voucher, if not you can go elsewhere and get your NHS test and voucher.
Did you sign any paperwork when you were at tesco?0 -
There are several categories of people who are encouraged to have free annual eye tests, including people with diabetes an those considered to be at risk of glaucoma)
Blimey..... I know this......
The op never mentioned anything other than he thought he needed an eye test....he hasn't mentioned blindness, glaucoma or that his blinkin eyes are falling out......so I made my comment based on a routine eye test..... that's why I said ROUTINE!0 -
telco sell glasses from as little as £150

Just get another eye test elsewhere.0

I dont have any serious eye conditions.....my eyesight has just changed a little since my last eye test.
As my last 2 eye tests were classed as paid for i have booked a FREE NHS eye test as i have the HC2 certificate.......ridiculous situation to be in but it seems the only way round my problem.
I really cant see the significance of my latest eye test date relative to the HC2 valid from date.. The fact is my prescription HAS changed within a 14 month period.0 -
GlasweJen, my last eye test was a free promotion by Tesco.....free eye tests for everyone.....so it must have been paid for by Tesco and not the NHS......same with the one before that at Specsavers....purchase glasses on the same day and the eye test is free.0

We do free eye tests in Scotland and people don't register that the form they sign is essentially paying for the test. If you didn't sign a form then tesco aren't claiming anything for your test and that makes your test private. You can issue an NHS voucher from a private test but it might be that the private test doesn't come up to NHS standards and so a voucher can't be issued until the extra bits are done.
For example if your LHA say all NHS tests need a visual fields test completed then a private test would need to provide a fields test before a voucher can be issued even though a fields test won't affect the prescription.0
