Where I live we have hump backed bridges. A bit narrow, but you can easily pass a car, or even a van, provided they keep to their own side, and miss the bridge parapet by 6" with their mirrors.
So on the way up, I always toot my little horn.
"Toot, toooot" goes my little horn (rather like Noddy's car)
I have already opened the window and pressed "mute" on the wireless.
With no answer, I trundle merrily up my own side, to end up braking on the apex, when some "SUV" appears in the geometric centre of the road with a surprised looking driver. Then there is usually confusion on their part as they try to back up, rather than simply steer towards their own side.
Obviously, my feeble little horn cant be heard over their bangin' tunes, but you think that they might try tooting theirs......I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

well if that is the case and the road has no white line then it is deemed to narrow for two vehicles to safely pass
and as a result you have to use give and take and people will stop to let others through
So, two lorries can pass each with plenty of room but this is unsafe? Yet there are narrower roads locally with white lines in the centre.0

There is a road near here that narrows to about ten feet wide for about 100 yards. It's not a problem as people just give way and take their turn to pass. A couple of years ago the council decided to paint white lines down the middle of it. Chaos and collisions ensued as some people seemed to have a complete common sense and spacial awareness failure. The lines have now been removed.0

Not just country lanes and 4x4's with rubbish drivers, It happens near me also. there is a bus stop local to me where it was put a bit close to the roundabout, when a bus pulls in it can block the road, usually they leave enough room for cars to pass.
A Ford Transit slowed down and had no issues passing the bus, but the driver of the Fiat Panda behind it obviously thought his car was wider than the van and had a look and got close but did not attempt to pass it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Maybe by the time that the Panda got to the overtaking position the bus was ready to move off so the Panda let it go first.0

No the bus had only just pulled in, we sat there long enough for 20+ cars to easily pass the bus it was during the rush hour with quite a few people getting on and off the bus.
They just could not judge it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Motorcyclists around here aren't fitted with brakes. I've found the best course of action is to stop in the middle of the road giving them no room to pass. I've seen at least three drive into the hedge this Summer this way.
I think the issue is they're holiday cyclists, and not confident stopping and starting. Much better to drive into a hedge than have to come to a halt.0

I often pull over to avoid scrapping the edge. I know how to judge a gap for my car but I don't know if the person approaching me does. Better safe than sorry, driving is not a race.0
