:D
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending :money:

Yay !! Friday - wide awake so I thought I would start the thread nice and early.

Today I have/will:
  • breakfast & lunch from stores
  • off out for dinner with a friend - hubby is treating me
  • charge my phone from my work pc
  • will be getting a free coffee at work (loyalty card)
  • half day for me today, so i need to work stupidly hard
  • will drive at 50mph to and from work
  • will walk into town later - will treat myself to a coffee instead of paying the bus fare
  • hope to do 7,000 steps to get bounts points
  • getting a bus to meet hubby after work - we are taking one car out tonight and hubster doesn't like my car
  • I'll be paying out cash today - no cards (getting back into the swing of cash only)
  • i have phoned the restaurant we are going to tonight to ask about corkage etc - £6 on a bottle of spirits - they can whistle.......I'll be on soft drinks
  • hoping I get some feedback for the interview.......the new contract starts 1st Jan, and so much to do in the meantime
  • need to buy a lottery ticket for tonight
  • checked online banking
  • check up on my friend - I didn't from her yesterday so just need to make sure all is well

OK, that's enough from me, hugs to those who need them !

Take care,
Candy xxx

  • Hi Cnady, thanks for starting. :hello: and to all that follow. You know when you're up early as neither DW or WM have finished on cheap leccy :rotfl:

    My list for today:
    Empty above when finished
    Heating only on fir 30 minutes to take edge off
    Checking banking, aim for PAD
    Volunteer tonight, will set my items out for sale tomorrow so don't have to rush in the morning, managed to label all I wanted last night
    Run for free exercis
    Work from home, convinced colleague to Skype with me rather than driving 2 hours each way to meet her. So more time to do work or (possibly finish early ;))
    Meals from stores
    Quick tidy round, get ahead for weekend
    Try to get in to town and bank cheque

    Think that's all, have a good Friday everyone :D

    Good Morning

    Candy - Thanks for starting us off today

    Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

    Am exhausted today, more mental than physical - the result of 12 telephone calls from mum yesterday despite spending time with her. Have to take mum into town (she wants new underwear and a new coat), hubby working strange hours today so will pick us up from town on his way home, so only one lot of public transport to contend with. Today I will

    Packed lunch for DH & DS - Done
    Take mum to town
    Wrap birthday pressies for weekend -
    Bump all sale listings/freecycle/facebook -
    Check Banks -
    Continue purge on Emails -
    Craft -
    Continue decluttering -
    Enter a few comps -
    All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer -
    Check https://www.freepostcodelottery.com - Remember there are now 5 chances to win -
    Check Lucky Phone -

    Have a good day! Love to you all!

  • Morning Jonno and Candy (thanks for the start) :waves:
    I've survived until Friday. Without having marked a book this week - I'm SO angry with myself for doing this :mad: so guess what is an essential on the list today?
    It's absolutely freezing so I've had to put the heating on this morning. I think it would be child cruelty not to. :rotfl: DH has 'slept' on the sofa and looks like 'the Scream' again. :undecided
    Here's today's list before I go and make sure the kids are up.
    ;) check banking
    ;) try and figure out why YNAB and my bank don't match
    ;) go to ds school assembly first thing
    ;) mark some books :o:o:o:o:o:o
    ;) write a shopping list
    ;) write a weekend jobs list
    ;) load of washing
    ;) encourage dh to contact the doctor or mh team
    ;) get ds to football training
    ;) find ds thermal base layer as it's looking COLD
    ;) try not to stress :rotfl:
    Have a good day everyone :D

    Morning all,

    I'm experimenting with a new weekend pattern: did most of the housework and miscellaneous jobs last night so that the 'weekend could be more leisurely. Off for more medical tests soon, absolutely starving, nil by mouth. Have also resolved not to spend all my down time asleep this weekend like I did last week.

    Debt-Free Nillionaire Month 6:

    * Replaced silicone around the edge of the bath using silicone from stores.

    * Housework mostly done using Stardrops and washable cloths.

    * Washed my rucksack I take to work in the machine. Comes up lovely. There was a bit of a soup spillage in it last week and I don't want the fabric to "go off".

    * Planned the weekend and how we'll use our entertainment budget.

    * Filing done for maximum efficiency.

    * RM Surveys done. I'm bored with them but OH loves the vouchers and stamps we get in return.

    * Shop around for DVDs OH would like for Decemberfest.

    Have a good day everyone.

    It's interesting that you say that as when my OH was very ill, that's how he described the way he was feeling inside. I really feel for you both.

    ziggy - big hugs to you and your mum x

    Morning all!

    Dad is coming to fit radiator back in living room. Which is great as its free but not so great in that we'll probably start using the heating more!

    Today I have/will:-
    * Check banks
    * Check FPL
    * Use free foundation sample
    * No TV on this morning
    * Take lunch to work
    * Earn more on OnePoll
    * Update work expenses
    * Dinner from stores
    * Sort out clothes to recycle/cs/e bay
    * Mop floors
    * Put paint on selling pages
    * Rejig clothes on airer
    * Wipe down shower glass after use
    * Use free anti aging cream
    * Find some things to throw out

    Think that's everything - which seems like a short list as had big lists this week! But starting to feel on top of the house work again! Difficult to motivate myself to clean when its a building site so gets dirty/dusty again very quickly!
