Bathroom overhaul

Having a bit of a debate at home and thought i'd ask what you guys thought. Mam's had a quote to have the bathroom done. The price includes; having all the tiling done, purchase of new toilet/shower/sink/lights/taps/heated towel rail, plumbing, removal of bath and replacing with shower unit and obviously labour.

Is that a reasonable price for what's included?

    Seems low to be honest.

Ask them what fitting and tiles they are including for the price.

We already have the wall tiles and the shower cubicle/base that we've bought ourselves. The only tiles we dont have are for the floor. He'll be getting those, the shower, the sink, toilet, towel heater and lights.

Sounds far too cheap to me. I'm assuming this will be the cheapest tiles, fixtures and fittings possible.

We gutted and redid the downstairs shower room when we bought our house - new shower enclosure, shower and mixer, floating toilet and concealed cistern, new towel rail, basin and vanity unit, finishing touches and new extractor, underfloor heating, half tiled and re-painted. Cost approx. £4k and that was with mates rates for the plumber/fitter, friends discount on the tiles and my father in law tiling for free!

Honestly, I'd expect the labour alone to come to around £2k.

Might be doable for a like for like swap, but does sound cheap. Did my mums bathroom last year and it cost about that with no labour costs.
    I would ask for references.

The guy is the son of a family friend so we know he's trustworthy. No issues there.

I knew it was cheap and so did mam. It's my dad who says its too expensive, he's the one who's supposed to paying for it (they're not together and he said he'd pay for it for reasons that are too lengthy to go in to here). But basically he thinks its far too expensive. I think its the case that he hasn't got a real idea of what everything costs as he seems to believe you could get all the fixtures and everything for £500 so basically this friend wants to charge £1500 for labour, which obviously isn't true. I honestly think dad was expecting a quote to come in under £1000 and that he just thinks prices are the same as they were years ago when they first got a quote for it.
