Tru - were they at Kingsholme as I read they had to be evacuated due to the wind?
Well it was a bit of a drunken slur, lol, but from what I was told, I think they moved some fans to another part of the stadium but carried on with the match. The men are still fast asleep so I'll find out the details later.

  • It was my DD's lucky night last night at the craft fayre! She woke up to two messages this morning - one to say she had won the lucky dip prize on the Aloe stall and the other to say she had one first prize on the lottery tickets we bought - she doesn't know quite what it is but something to do with the photographic gifts stall!

  • Good Morning all ,well still a bit windy here in north Kent ,but nowhere near as bad as last night and the sun is actually out.

I am off to get some essential shopping this morning as I am running out of fresh veg and need some fruit as well.Only the second 'big' shop this month as I am using up as much as I can from the freezer, and store cupboards.
Only came forth in last nights quiz but the supper was delicious a jacket potato with a chilli filling pretty good all in quiz and meal for £2.00 That's my kind of night out :):):) cheap and cheerful :)

My DGS Ben is somewhere in Wales with his G/F camping so I hope they aren't too wet. They said they were going up Snowdon at some point, I'm hoping he texts at some point today. They pick the worst weather to go away in. Last year they climbed Ben Nevis in November, what it is to be young and immune to the cold and wet.I like my home comforts too much :):):)
Right, time I got a wriggle on, I am in need of a bowl of porridge to keep me warm and full whilst food shopping

    Morning all,

we had the wind pretty bad here gusts of 35mph and something went flying past my bedroom window at 9pm but i didnt have it as bad as hubby and youngest who is still staying in a folding camper.... affectionately known, in the family as the 'Wigwam'.

Hubby had a text message on Saturday from the farmer who's field he is staying in just to tell him that his camper was still standing. Hubby thought it was a bit strange until he went down on Monday. Mondays winds were bad enough but last night the camper was battling 55mph winds and is still standing this morning. I dont think either him or my son got much sleep though.

Hubby was texting me updates every half an hour and i was providing him weather updates as well as advice such as .... put all the lose items/cups/kettles etc in the cupboards and hold tight. :D "Is that all youve got to say?" Hubby said when he told me he was holding the poles together. "No' was my answer "Its about time you listened to me and bought the caravan down".:D

Heres a link to a short video he sent me.

A day in the house today, usual routine for a Wednesday. Vacuum throughout and a few extras. Empty the vacuum cleaners/lint out of the tumble dryer. Tomorrow is bin day.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

    Morning all.

Hope everyone is well and that the storm hasn't caused anyone any damage.

It's pretty rough here despite our normally sheltered position in the south of the island, it was bad last night and the rain is back to horizontal as per normal North Wales rain.
JackieO - I've popped you a message in case your DGS is in need of drying off.

I put my notice in to my old job last night and I'm hoping they don't get too snarky about it. My new job is strictly Monday to Friday, the office doesn't even open weekends. :j I'm not sure what I'll do with myself with all the free time I'll have - perhaps finish my driving lessons, Welsh A level and the work on my house!

Definitely more time to batch bake, fill my freezer up and get the storecupboard list up to date. Also, I might get time to make my own lunch and not live off rubbish. All good for the purse as well as for my health. I'm also hoping to get our garden prepared to put in a few rows of our own veg once the weather allows.
It'll be really helpful to get back to OS ways :D

Also, I've just been on BBC radio - telling the story of my life being saved by a Tesco pharmacist of all people. I think there's a 'learn first aid' push on at the moment.

Hugs to everyone that needs them and I hope everyone gets a bit of good luck too.

  • Morning,

Still very windy. Popped into Tesco and bought a few bits towards Christmas (thought I'd better start). I decided that this morning I would do some online Crimbo shopping, but haven't bought anything yet!

I bought some felt last week as I want to make some gift tags that will double as tree decorations. Must get started with that soon.

Off to the library later to find some more reading matter. I have a kindle but do prefer a proper book.

Making Roast for dinner with apple crumble for after :)

TA - Your DD did well :)

Judi - Wouldn't fancy staying in that when it's the Winter!!

Dark and wet today so will get wrapped up well before getting the bus to York. It looks as if the river was ready to flood yesterday which might affect the bus so will set off early.

Making myself an omelette later and doing a quick tidy round.

If I get the chance to do some shopping I need nice wrapping paper and cards plus a few stocking fillers.

I have not heard yet if my offer has been accepted but some bungalows have just come up for sale so might consider those as well. Always good to have a plan B (or even a plan) ;)

Hugs to all especially Lame Wolf, Hester, Mrs TA and anyone who could use one.

  • Afternoon, ((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))) if you need one. We both had a bad night, not due to the gale force, and more winds, but joints.

The wind was battling at the back of the bungalow, so as we sleep at the front it did not disturb us. No real damage just stuff blown about and the bird table on the new grass, its not done much damage so thats ok.

I washed towels overnight, they are out on the whirly, its still a bit blustery so hopefully they will dry.

Very late up, so a light, late lunch. I have put the Dyson over the sitting room, almost picked up a piece of OH's jigsaw with it, just managed to stop in time as it was vibrating towards the front of the hoover.

Everything ready for our visitors, my quilting lady and the chap who is going to 'baby sit' OH when I am at the quilting class.

DD2 was here yesterday, she had to leave early for a meeting at work, went on her way with half the apples I have left from the bag the pastor brought round.

Fingers crossed Elona, you can at least go and look at the other bungalows that have come onto the market, you can always withdraw the offer if something more suitable comes up. Until you sign the contract you can do what you like without penalty. I forgot to say It would be worth you paying for a thorough survey to make sure there are no nasty surprises, if you do decide to go through with the first bungalow. It could save you a lot of money in the first place or give you a bargaining point for lowering the price to correct things once you have the report. It may well be expensive, but it could save you making an expensive mistake and being lumbered with having to pay for any repairs etc which might be needed.

Right offsky to sort out something for lunch.

  • It has been dry and windy for most of the day, I even managed to dry some washing on the line :D It has just started raining now so all of it is on airers.
I was going down town to pay some bills, but couldn't be asked especially as I was keeping an eye on the weather.

According to Piers Corbyn it looks like we are heading for a polar plunge animated-smileys-weather-014.gif by the end of the week, so I must look out my thermals, not that I go out much once the weather gets icy.

Still it means that I managed to get some more bits made for the school fete, just hope it isn't snowed off.

I must get some scarves and mitts knitted up, they should sell well if it is cold.

Chicken crumble for dinner tonight. DS's fave with roast potatoes and runner beans from the freezer (I still have over thirty bags of them) Not complaining though because we love them :D
Shopping tomorrow so I will pop to the bank to get the money out to pay all of the bills and that is out of the way.
I want to go to the farm shop to pick up some more coal, eggs, potatoes, brussels and a few other bits.
I have been buying a couple of cartons of UHT milk to keep in the house in case the weather does turn and I am going to have a go at freezing eggs.
The freezer is running down lovely, mind you all I need to get is a couple of gateau for Christmas, I have got everything else.
Need to go to the garden centre to get MIL's voucher and I have finished all of my Christmas shopping :j

DD got a bargain in the YMCA chazza yesterday.....a warhammer monolith model, brand new, never been opened that retails at £41 , she paid £1.99 so DS has a nice surprise for Christmas :j:j My children have learned from a master :P

Talk of the devil, she has just got home from work, so off to have a natter and a coffee with her.

    BFN xx
