Cant turn off Audio Description Toshiba Regza

I have a Toshiba Regza with no remote control - I manage this OK with a reprogrammed Sky remote that does simple functions, however the TV has now defaulted to Audio Description for every channel that has it and I can't get rid of it! It is about the most irritating thing in the world (yep, I know, first world problems) but I'd really appreciate it if anyone knows how to turn it off without the right remote?
I have tried all menu functions accessible on the TV, and all buttons on the sky remote, turning off and on again, turning off at switch etc, to no avail.

Around £11.50 will get you a compatible remote off amazon or ebay (i.e. not a universal type, but a 'copy' of an original Toshiba remote).

Some universal remotes (if you have one in a box of bits to try) may allow you to access the TV setup menus to disable AD and / or toggle it on/off via a button... but there's no guarantee... so don't go out and buy one and hope it will.

Sometimes the TV panel buttons will allow access to the needed option... you will need to read the manual of course, to find out how... http://www.toshiba-om.net/tv_manuals.php should find the one specific to your model.

Some remotes are quite specialist. We have two Panasonics and the very similar looking keypads will only work on both sets for a few functions. Notably they will not alter eachother's AV setting.
