Today, the Treasury Committee heard from the Prudential Regulation Authority's (PRA) governor and board members on the PRA's work and progress.
The Treasury Committee holds oral evidence hearings with the PRA approximately every six months as part of the Committee's remit to scrutinise their work.

Who are the PRA?
The PRA was created by the Financial Services Act (2012) and is responsible for the prudential regulation and supervision of banks, building societies, credit unions, insurers and major investment firms. The PRA has three statutory objectives: promoting the safety and soundness of the firms it regulates; contributing to the securing of an appropriate degree of protection for those who are or may become insurance policyholders; and facilitating effective competition.
