  • This will be interesting to listen to, thanks.

We have it in our power to drastically reduce the amount of energy used by dwellings, to render all this nonsense about choosing a supplier etc effectively redundant, yet it still isn't happening. So it will be interesting to hear what is being discussed in Parliament as to why this is.
  • """Energy and Climate Change Committee""" anything this department is involved in will increase costs to the consumer in general and the energy poor in particular.

"""past and present energy efficiency schemes""" will only be allowed into the debate if they glorify Energy and Climate Change and lead to increased costs to the consumer in general and the energy poor in particular.

Its been that way since the invention of the climate change initiative 34 years ago. This committee will change nothing, they never have, just more talk and more inaction, no actual change and an inevitable increase in household energy bills. There is no will in any of the parties in this country. According to the National Grid power supplies will be at their wafer-thinnest in mid January next year, so we had better have a GOV meeting even though it takes 20+ years to build a power station.

There have been some massive changes in household usage in the past 10yrs already due from a combination of legislation & innovation can we imagine an environment now without.

    Mandatory condensing boilers
Kingspan (other expanding foams are available)
    mega flow cylinders
    solar pv
external wall insulation (seen on thousands of homes all over the country).
    digital room stats
    programmable trv's
    ASHP
    GSHP
    narrow cavity fill

If any of you have an interest in the national grid supply check out.

  • UK grid a pathetic 17% French grid 57%. Were sucking 1.5GW from the 2GW capacity French via the interconnector every current moment and pay handsomely for the privilege. Without getting bogged down with debates about pricing revenue congestion we can therefore assume that electricity flows dominantly to UK from France because French electricity is usually cheaper than UK electricity in the summer profile and sell the French dirty coal & diesel generated UK backup plant power in the winter to make some money back - its madness !
