Can you get into the settings via your mobile then, and update your number through that? I take it we're talking about two factor authentication.0

You can't create a new account with the same email address. If that's what you want to do, you have to use a new address. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I'm not sure how to change the number on you two-factor authentication, you'll probably need to get in contact with Yahoo for that.
However, you can still get access to your email whilst you are sorting out your phone number change. Yahoo doesn't apply two-factor authentication when you connect via pop/IMAP (which makes you question what the point of it is).
Here's the first page that came back when I googled yahoo imap thunderbird - http://pop2imap.com/yahoo_thunderbird.php
Thunderbird is a free email client.
IMAP is a way of accessing emails (choose that over POP3 as POP3 has the risk of accidentially downloading your emails and deleting them from the server).0 -
