Simple question - Do I need to tell my insurer if I have solar panels?

Who owns the panels?
If they are owner by a third party, then no as the third party insures the roof and is liable for any repair costs caused by the panels, or any delay in removing the panels to fix a problem. Obviously you can tell your insurer, but in this case it isn't needed.
If you own the panels you do need to inform you would need to inform your buildings insurer.0 -

Any one, I'm just curious. I can understand the owners of the panels covering damage to the roof caused by the panels. Of course, that isn't the same as insuring the roof.Which particular company are you interested in? I have hard copies, but I'm sure a very quick google would find the info.
I did have a google and couldn't find any.0 -

Thanks for the reply, sorry I haven't got back sooner. I own the house and panels. When they were first installed I rang my insurers and told them I had panels, but they didn't make anything of it and didn't raise the premium so I was wondering whether I needed to tell insurers when I go for a new quote.0
