    Who owns the panels?

If they are owner by a third party, then no as the third party insures the roof and is liable for any repair costs caused by the panels, or any delay in removing the panels to fix a problem. Obviously you can tell your insurer, but in this case it isn't needed.

If you own the panels you do need to inform you would need to inform your buildings insurer.

Is that the case in every installation?

In the UK yes, as the companys who own the panels need to ensure they remain in good condition to make a profit, there aren't any rent a roof supplies in the UK at the moment who don't do this.

Are you sure they insure the roof? Don't you mean they insure the panels?

No, they insure the side of the roof that houses the panels.

Which particular company are you interested in? I have hard copies, but I'm sure a very quick google would find the info.

Any one, I'm just curious. I can understand the owners of the panels covering damage to the roof caused by the panels. Of course, that isn't the same as insuring the roof.

I did have a google and couldn't find any.
  • I think No..
  • Thanks for the reply, sorry I haven't got back sooner. I own the house and panels. When they were first installed I rang my insurers and told them I had panels, but they didn't make anything of it and didn't raise the premium so I was wondering whether I needed to tell insurers when I go for a new quote.
