Restoring to factory default
                    Afternoon,
I have an old iPhone 5 I would like to sell but I want to wipe it it and restore to factory default first.
My question is, and I apologise if this is a really stupid question, if I put my own sim card in it, will it wipe any info from the sim - or will it just wipe the phone?
I don't want to try it and have all my info wiped!

If not sure take the sim out and then reset to factory Afaik it doesn't do anything to the sim.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect. 0 0

No contacts are stored on the SIM nor is it possible to export to SIM card so I don't think you'll have anything on there to "wipe"0

Yes, all stored on the phone not the SIM.
Back up the phone to iTunes or iCloud.
Reset the phone - which will require the iCloud password to complete.0

Step by step process here for you:

To complete the process (after backing up to iCloud/iTunes) you'll need to disable "Find my iPhone" to disable the activation lock. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0

It won't let me do anything without the sim!WellKnownSid wrote: »Yes, all stored on the phone not the SIM.

Thanks - it's my old phone so I don't need to back it up. I just want it cleared so I can sell it.Step by step process here for you:
