Not sure how this has managed to reach two pages as its a bit silly compared to the complicated questions people usually ask.
But for avoidance of doubt, your last working day can be the day before your birthday so the pension commences on your birthday.0 -
Thanks for the comprehensive replies, much appreciated.Andyfr0

Why not take annual leave - so your birthday is your last day but you have the day off?
What a surreal thread?:D0 -
Hi
Yes, and just to add to the plotline...
You used to have to have your pension in payment before the age of 75, so your last day in the scheme was TWO days before your 75th birthday;)
Your pension started the day before your 75th birthday, and if you were lucky enough to stand the shock of retirement celebrate being 75 the following day;~))This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

hmmm ..... strange query.Just to let you all know, I have now got confirmation from the administrators that my last working day is the day before my birthday.
Depends on which one you talk too!!! I've had various 'confirmations' only to find out that was not correct due to x, y or z.
25 years service and an age of 59 and 364 days don't make 85 no how.
Is the years not counted in whole years?0 -

The confirmation was from the person who administers the LGPS at the council and deals with this kind of request all the time, that's good enough for me.Andyfr0 -
Have you got that in writing?0
