anyone in this situation who says try not to be bitter i would assume has never tasted how it feels
You could not be further from the truth! I know very well how it feels and have endured and survived more than one monumental betrayal in my lifetime.
I'm also in the position of being a second wife whose stepson believed that I deserved no provision from my husband should he pass away before me. The basis for that view was that the first wife had helped to acquire those assets and therefore they should pass entirely to the parents' son and tough luck on me if I was left old, sick and destitute.
Fortunately, my years of loyalty, hard work, very considerable financial input and physical care of my spouse plus the advice of a family law solicitor regarding Right of Provision under the Inheritance Acts have meant that I own equally all the assets of the marriage and cannot be dispossessed.
I will repeat what I said in my first post "it has been MY EXPERIENCE in life that hate damages only the hater". I have learned that lesson the hard way and that is why I urge you to think very carefully about what you may be doing to yourself if you cannot let go of your bitterness.
Again, I wish you well.0
