Wouldn't surprise me if we have a 'mole' from the daily mags who reported back that we had devised a way of using Roboform to tick the no thanks boxes for us - so they changed to videos - and then they discovered that we could get out of watching them by adding adblocker - so they tried to make it that we had to watch the videos......let's see what they do next when they discover that some of us have managed to get out of doing that too! shocked-smiley-emoticon.gif

I think I am going to have to admit defeat :( I have disabled everything and the videos still won't play and they haven't answered my emails

Are the videos loading and then not playing, or are you getting a loading message that just hangs there for ages?

Thanks both of you.....the videos will not even load for me, I've left them hanging there and nothing happens at all
Our Granddaughter, Caitlin Freya is now 7 years old :), growing up to be a lovely young lady and our Grandson, Findlay Ewan is 3 years old and still a lovable bundle of mischief :) one of each, how perfect

Sounds like something is blocking the video from loading. if you are using Firefox, try restarting the browser with ad-ons disabled from Help in the menu bar. this will open FF in safe mode. then go to one of the mag daily's and see if the video plays.

Have you disabled shockwave CP ??

I was having a nightmare at the weekend but now they are whizzing through again. Need to go back and enable it every now and again but now I know where it is its a click of a button.
Ahha, I've found it: in Firefox , Add-Ons, Plugins, and after turning it off managed to clear some that were hanging in Marie Claire :j

P.S. thanks for your help guys :j

Looking at my Add-Ons again I can see Shockwave Flash (which I have disabled) but also see Shockwave for Director, above which it says: Shockwave for Director is known to be vulnerable and should be updated. When I click the update button I see this message:

Shockwave for Director 12.2.0.162 and earlier, Windows (click-to-play) has been blocked for your protection.

Why was it blocked?Versions 12.2.0.162 and earlier of this plugin are affected by a critical security vulnerability that puts users at risk.Who is affected? All users who have these versions of this plugin installed. What does this mean? The problematic add-on or plugin will be automatically disabled and no longer usable.
When Mozilla becomes aware of add-ons, plugins, or other third-party software that seriously compromises Firefox security, stability, or performance and meets certain criteria, the software may be blocked from general use. For more information, please read this support article. Blocked on November 13, 2015. View block request.

  • I've always used firefox for the mag dailies but disabling flash and adblock plus was still causing problems so i decided to give chrome a try and i am now sailing through them.
I used to get through them pretty quickly on firefox but am finding chrome to be so much better and faster.
Thanks everyone for posting how to do it as without your help i would have given up.
I did see it mentioned that someone didn't know how to disable flash in chrome i googled for instructions and found this hope it helps someone.
Disable Flash in Chrome for your browser

To disable Flash in Chrome on the web:
    1. Type the following where you would normally type a URL:
      chrome://plugins
    2. Locate the Flash Player in the list of plug-ins. You may see more than one Flash Player listed.
    3. Select Disable for each Flash Player listed.
    4. To verify that Flash is no longer enabled, go to Adobe's Flash Player Help page, and select the Check Now button. You should see a message that indicates that "Flash Player is pre-installed in Google Chrome, but not enabled."

Now then, don't hold me to this, but I've just done my mag dailies, and for the ones that played vids, I found I could leave them to play and load the next one, as it used to be. In other words, I didn't have to keep one vid open on it's own to play. They played through when they were hidden underneath another tab - does that makes sense?

I found today that after submitting some of my entries I was getting 'you have already entered this competition' rather than submitted? Anyone else? It mostly happened on Woman's Own, Woman, WhatsonTv (that group of mag dailies)

I've had this on 2-3 comps for a week or more. I keep meaning to make a note of which ones, so that I can make sure it's the same ones each time. I wondered if perhaps they were listed as mag dailies, but they're actually one-off entries?

You could be right? I will try to make a note of the comps that do this tomorrow and then Saturday to see if they match up :)
