    Morning folks

Thanks to ccl for starting us off

Bit brighter here today but supposed to be raining later. Wish I wasn't in work! This job I'm working on is soooo booooooring! Need to knuckle down, just a quick post while re-gridding data!

    Today's list:
    • B/L/D from stores (trying to make space in freezer!)
    • Charge phone in work - ongoing
    • Remembered to take soft toy into work for friend - done
    • Also took the kitchen scales that I replaced to work - done
    • Work very very hard
    • Check online banking and reconcile spreadsheet (scary) - done
    • Run at lunchtime - done
    • Strip and remake bed
    • Carry on with advent calendar and crochet later
Will add more if I think of it

    Have a good one all

  • Afternoon all,

    Thanks for starting CCL

Well I'm at work but feel really ropey. I had awful cystitis yesterday so think I've got some sort of virus/ bug. But I don't think I'm poorly enough not to be here so here I am!

The ex rang this morning and asked if we'd have the pooch for all of this week. We're practically going to have her full-time now as he's moving house and has a lot of upheaval at the minute. I'm happy to have her but a little bit of notice would have been appreciated! I drove home and nipped her out over lunchtime then my lovely OH took me back to work and will pick me up tonight - I'd never have got a parking space else!

I was naughty and bought a sandwich for lunch as hadn't prepared anything. It came out of the food budget but is still naughty.

OH is going to go to the post office and pay the cheque in for me - he is lovely! :)

Tea from stores tonight. Probably something bland as I don't feel much like eating.

Banking checked. FPL and surveys to do

NSDs the rest of the week hopefully!

Have a lovely afternoon everyone. I might go and fill the hot water bottle up I have at work! Following my mam's advice and drinking plenty of fluids!

    Hello Frugal Friends,
Positive vibes to all those who are feeling poorly, fed-up, etc.
Useful morning clearing backlog of small jobs, some of them money saving & thinking about the planning I need to do this week.
*Did laundry overnight on cheap tariff. All on heated airer, but it won't be switched on until bedtime to make best use of cheaper tariff. Another load also in washer ready to go on overnight timer.
*Turned a big bag of cooking apples which someone gave us into apple sauce & potted it up for freezer. Left some for making my mincemeat later this week so that I shan't have to buy any.
*Pumpkin soup for lunch - got to get some space made in the freezer somehow. Also took out pasta sauce for tonight & something to go on jacket potatoes tomorrow.
*Washed hair & let it dry naturally. Shall still need to straighten as look too witchy for my meeting, but it's got to be a saving leaving out the hairdryer stage. (Am really motivated now by that big credit on our energy account)
*Ordered some gifts for mr f. He has a birthday close to Christmas too, so I like to get presents sorted out in good time. Stuck pretty much to the budget we agreed. Nice to have some treats, but not to spend the next few months paying for them, like in the bad old days.
*Thought about the Christmas planning I need to do & (lol!) made a List of Lists. I shall need 5 lists: 1.Outstanding tasks I need to do re gifts i.e Baking a cake, getting some photos printed, bottling my berry gin, etc. 2.Baking list - what am I baking & what quantities (sensible ones, not a mr f festive sausage roll-stuffing fantasy amount). 3.General Christmas job list - getting ready for guests, making room in cupboards, freezer, sorting out tree, etc. 4.Christmas food/meal plan - complete with budget notes such as what we will use our nectar points, co-op dividend for. 5.Shopping list for the above. I love this time of year, love being organised & I just KNOW that planning properly will save me money because it always does.
*Wrapped F-i-L's birthday presents using recycled paper & gift bag.
*Paid another 50p into my sealed pot.
*Good news on the energy bill rebate front - Received email reply this morning to say that it is fine for me to have £246 of the credit amount back. It will be in our account within 14 days. It's so tempting to take more, but I think it's best to leave the rest in situe for winter. Hope it comes asap then I can deal with some of the unexpected expenses which I've been moaning about recently without having to borrow from savings accounts (something I'm really reluctant to do with it taking a long time to build them compared to how quickly they can be spent).
*More on energy supplier - We're with Co-op Energy & I know they pay dividend points to Co-op members but they are Midshires Co-op which is not my area (they used to pay out to members of any Co-op but had to stop it on some or other legal technicality). I didn't think it was worth joining Midshires as I am nowhere near any of their branches for spending the points. However, the advisor who answered my rebate enquiry suggested I join & it seems that instead of dividend vouchers, I can have the equivalent money paid off my energy account. It's 50 points a month for uploading gas & electricity readings (I do this anyway) & more points based on my monthly payments. Seemed worth doing, anyway. Every little helps.
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Try to fit in a bit of present knitting
OK, must crack on with taming the crazy tresses so I at least look fit to leave the house.
    Love to all,
    F x
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

I definately didn't spend any money today.. I left my mobey at home

... which was interesting seeing as it was my turn to buy milk, whoops....

So, I am now 'team milk' next week but tomorrow will be buying into the work syndicate for the lottery (I'd be gutted if I ended up the last one left in work :rotfl:)

I'm back hanging my head in shame.

Real life took over and caused chaos but now I feel more human, in control and rested.

I know it's a bit late today but here's my update

    Proactive MSE-ing
    • NSD today
    • Man came about mattress - it's a manufacturing fault so just waiting on a call from I*ea for a replacement
    • All meal from stores (even made macaroni & cheese for DH coming home from work)

    Winter prep

    • Brought in more logs - the rain's heading up our way & Windy Wilson has advised it's turning cold and there might be snow by the end of the week (but hopefully not for us)
    Christmas prep

    • Couple more Christmas presents in last week (managed to get them on the nectar card too)

    Round tuits

    • Samosad a collection of carrier bags hiding in the utility room
    • Socks have been mated - yay
    • Set up OWL to monitor electricity usage - still waiting to be done

Good habit forming (28 days to set a habit into daily routine or something like that - I'm going for 1 a week)
Since I've failed I'm just adding one day today and I'm not adding another habit until next week so I have these 3 ingrained

    • Post on here once a day 18/28
    • Get up at 6 am on work days 11/28
    • Tidy house before going to bed 3/28
    Happy cheapness and freeness
    • Caught up on a bit of recorded TV
Painful - but gotta be done

    • Check banks
    • Ironing
    • Strip bed & washed bedding - must go and make this up
    Mins game - 45/465
Bike went at the weekend (nephew's son's bike was stolen - ours was never used - seemed obvious)
The other 4 are several bags from the garage that have been chopped / burned / given to neighbour as kindling and firewood. My uncle's fence blew down in the spring and was donated to us for the fire - recycling at it's best.

And tomorrow I intend to be back on track - up and at 'em early and all that.

    Thanks folks - take care
